For those of you visiting Northern New England this summer, and may be hitting the coast of Maine. I would suggest driving (or hiking) to the top of Cadillac Mountain, in Acadia National Park, at Bar Harbor Maine.
FM and TV DX conditions up there can be fantastic. Even without any skip, the entire FM Band is full with stations from Boston clear over to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The highway up to the top of the 1500 foot peak, the highest peak along the eastern seaboard of US, is free. There is ample parking and room for an RV. And in addition to grat DX possibilities, the view itself, on a clear day, is well worth the trip.
As for FM, the nearest local FM stations are 15 miles away, so overload should not be too much of a problem. As for TV you should be able to get a few analog LPTVs from Bangor (40 air miles northwest), as well as Canadian analogTV from Nova Scotia and New Busnwick. Bangor Digital TV Should come in crystal clear, as you are within line of sight of all three Bangor transmitting sites.
Check it out...
BTW The road closes before the first snow and ice of the fall, usually by Oct. 15th.
