TSL?

Great input, guys. Once again, it appears that content is king, and that timely, relatable content is the answer. PPM has its problems - mostly due to small sample size - but it could result in less imaging and more content that's meaningful to the LISTENER. Next thing you know PDs will spend less time writing and scheduling promo, and more time helping talent improve.

With PPM will come many more "dry segs" ... less important to tell you who you're listening to and more important to just keep you listening.

don't you wish everybody did?

Well, no Mike. I'd hope that my competition didn't. ;)

I think Sir Rox is right. Listeners don't know the difference between recorded imaging and jock talk. If it doesn't connect with them emotionally, they tune out (even if only mentally) and you become audio wallpaper. Here's a pretty good blog on the subject by Doug Erickson:

Point taken but better competition makes everyone better, don't you think?

As a listener I find excess imaging annoying, hey I'm here listening to your station, what more do you want? I'll make up my own mind what I like about your station and what your station is, you don't have to pound away telling me.

As a jock I always hated the "less talk" liners. Here I am talking about not talking?

Truth is with today's ever shorter attention spans being on the radio isn't quite the same as it used to be. I'm sure it's a lot more difficult.
