Both TSN stations will feature extensive live NHL hockey coverage with TSN Radio 990 an official broadcaster of the Montreal Canadiens and TSN Radio 1290 the home of the Winnipeg Jets. TSN Radio 990 and TSN Radio 1290 will be available nationally online at TSN.ca and on TSN Mobile.

“We are always looking to strengthen and extend the TSN brand by continuing to bring Canadians industry-leading sports content wherever they are. TSN Radio and its local focus has quickly made a significant impact on the Toronto landscape and we are looking forward to doing the same in the key Montreal and Winnipeg markets,” said Stewart Johnston, President of TSN. “TSN Radio 990 and 1290 will each launch with NHL broadcast rights - the ultimate in local sports content. Combining TSN’s resources and leadership with these already established local stations will be a huge win for sports fans.”

In addition to its local sports coverage, TSN Radio 990 and TSN Radio 1290 will leverage the natural synergies already in place including TSN’s bureaus in Montreal and Winnipeg along with TSN’s regional television packages for the Canadiens and Jets games. The two radio stations will also utilize TSN’s all-star roster of sports broadcasters, experts, analysts and Insiders, including James Duthie, Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger, Pierre LeBrun, Ray Ferraro, Marc Crawford, Dave Randorf, Brian Williams, Chris Schultz, Matt Dunigan, Jock Climie, Dave Naylor and Michael Landsberg.

“This is an exciting time and a coming of age for our Montreal and Winnipeg sports stations. Working with TSN to acquire long-term radio broadcast rights for the Canadiens and Jets this summer really put THE TEAM 990 and Sports Radio 1290 in an incredible position for growth,” said Chris Gordon, President of Bell Media Radio. “Combining our local coverage with the TSN brand and its team of experts takes us to a new level and instantly makes these stations the leading voice in local sports.”

Hi! M.J. and All of You! How are You? Me fine. The reason why I think that TSN did not extend to Ottawa and Vancouver, it is because TSN does not have the rights to broadcast all the TV Hockey Games of the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators, it is Sportsnet Own by Rogers Telecommunication Who owns the rights to broadcast Them, because TSN has the rights to broadcast the Montreal Canadiens and The Newly Winnipeg Jets via the Radio and TV, it is all about competition between Rogers and Bell Media Who owns TSN and the French side RDS, Sportsnet just on Monday re branded or somewhat there TV and Radio Stations and Sportsnet now have a Paper and Digital Bi-Weekly Sports Magazine, at Edmundston, Sportsnet has the rights to broadcast and I think the Flames too, The Maple Leafs has their own Leafs TV and They are almost on ever Saturday during on CBC on Hockey Night in Canada. There is some rumors, I repeat, it is only a rumor, that RDS, the French side of TSN want to buy two AM Radio Stations, because in August and early September Their only Sports Radio Station in French changed format to all Traffic and Weather, now They are on 98.5 FM at least a couple of Sports Shows. Now it is only me speaking and writing now but I think that at Vancouver on Team 1040 and Ottawa on the Team 1200, They will become Sportsnet Radio just like CJCL Fan 590 in Toronto and Fan 990 in Calgary. There is a big thug of war between Rogers and Bell Media. I think it is Stay Tune for some more changes coming on the Canadian Sports Radio and TV Format, like TVA Sports another French all Sports French TV Station to compete against RDS own by Bell Media, TVA Sports is own by Quebecor own by Karl Péladeau and TVA Sports and Sportsnet form Rogers, has an agreement on broadcasting rights, like Sportsnet will broadcast the English side of the Ottawa Senators and TVA Sports the French side. I Hope and Pray that All of You understand all this. I tried my best to explain all this. The only hic I do not understand is on the Calgary Flames, because Sportsnet has the rights but the Radio Station Fan 990 is own by Rogers, I think there will be a change there very soon.
Thanks for reading all this and Take care All of You.

I think Rogers is holding onto the Fan name in fear that someone else will pick up the name if they don't keep it. Otherwise, it's just good logic to stop saying "fan" and start calling all their sports stations Sportsnet radio. (ie "Sportsnetradio590" instead of "Sportsnetradio fan 590") besides, isn't the name a little too long?
