the video music channel on wphl-hd and carried on comcast 250 went bankrupt...I thought it was a nice change of pace from vh1 classic and also throught they were doing ok.....I am disappointed with the fuse video channel it is somewhat like vh1 classic with many movies and reality shows....

The over air signal 17-2 is running sports shows, Comcast cable 250 is simulcasting the Music Choice oldies channel audio and showing a banner telling the viewers how wphl told them the tube has been discontinued....

The tube was one of my favorite chanels, absolutely no b-s, just videos. I am bummed to see it go.

Yeah, I too am bummed big-time that The Tube has gone belly up! What a shame. I really enjoyed the channel and don't see anyone else coming along anytime soon with a similiar concept. PHL, has another poster said, just has a slide up on Comcast's feed on channel 250 saying that The Tube has ceased operation.

I've read about some interesting things owners have done creating hyper-local channels on the digital sub-channels, but have no idea if PHL's owners would try something like that. Could be too much investment, or not enough content available to them as compared to a major network affiliate.

So what did they replace it with?

The TV guide crawl at the bottom says "World Championship Sports", but all I have seen is a screen saying that WPHL has notified Comcast that the Tube is no longer available.

WBFF 45 in Baltimore runs a second channel called GoodTV. At times its just a simulcast of WBFF, WNUV or its infomercials/paid religion, but they run classic shows and movies not seen on 45 or 54.

It's alright - they show 'All in the Family' and 'Sanford & Son' reruns at 11-11:30pm. I think its cool for the city grade dwellers, which can use an antenna and get an extra channel without needing cable, or putting up with TV Land's crap of changing of schedules, and squeezing in as many commercials as possible, if one is into watching 'All in the Family' etc.

I don't know Sam Zell's long term plan for Tribune or specifically WPHL TV - but it seems that creating ancillary revenues for stations like WPHL is unlikely. However, it would be wise to put up something there soon - so that Comcast won't drop the space.

Regarding the World Championship Sports, it used to run on WPHL DT 3. They just moved it down to DT2.
