Does anyone remember this great video channel, I think it was Tube TV. It was on 17-2 and ran for a few years, its been gone 3 years now from what I remember. The videos were non-stop and were not 99 percent urbanic, the way VH1, MTVH, MTV2, TR3, MTVJ, VH1S and FUSE are. Fantastic channel, "oh wow" and off the wall tunes, what ever happened to this channel, did it go belly up, any video channel that tries to be Rock Oriented is plunged into Oblivion by the rotton, one-sided suits.

It was called "The Tube". I agree it was great.

However, it may have launched before it's time - 3 or 4 years too early.

It would have helped if it was done by Tribune or the primary station group owner. It wasn't ad supported, so that likely caused its failure.

If it was something such as infomercials in the AM hours, and 12noon-midnight The Tube music videos, with the infomercials in the AM subsidizing the music play, it may work. Or, if it was more hours as in all day, but ad-supported throughout, with 2-3 songs followed by an ad.

I'd be happy if it was resurrected even if it just 6 hours a day on Antenna TV or This TV.

I'd guess there would be more of an interested viewing audience than those watching "Maude" reruns.

That is true, I don't seem to remember any commercials on the schedule. They showed nice promos and liners between the videos, and that was it. I remember a few off the wall gems, one that sticks out is Blind Faith live at Hyde Park in the 60's, great stuff. I noticed some stations replaced it with thecooltv which apparantly shows music videos, hope its not the hip hop/rap/soul stuff like every other music video channel supports. There should be a rock only 24/7/365 music video channel with blocks of metal, rock, classic rock, new rock, alternative, punk, grunge, old rock videos, etc., it would probably do very well...Why it has not been done yet is absurd and stupid.
