Tucson and Phoenix TV Weathermaps?

In the last four or five years, I have had the opportunity to watch Tucson Television News. We usually spend a week or so during our several visits, so numerous news and weather broadcasts are seen. IIRC, KGUN TV9, KVOA TV4 and KOLD TV13 were most frequently seen. My question arrives watching those three Tucson channels and their "weathermaps" drawn with most every town in Arizona above Casa Grande magically invisible. There are exceptions, of course, but mostly just to occasionally mention the overnight low in Flagstaff. They must assume all Kingman, Prescott, Show Low, Holbrook, Page, Winslow, Lake Havasu City and possibly Phoenix do not exist; or nobody has friends and relatives traveling north of Gila Bend. ???

On the other hand, IIRC, all the Phoenix based TV Stations show most of Southern Arizona's various cities and some (Mc12) even mention Rocky Point in Mexico. Some TV stations in Phoenix show Silver City, NM and other towns close to our state's various borders. What the heck is this southern bias from the Old Pueblo all about?

Maybe the Tucson stations want to spare their viewers from the decidedly-Phoenix habit of trying to read every d**n Arizona temperature on the map. :D My pet peeve is that they don't show Vegas or SoCal on some of the maps. A lot of people actually travel to those places...

Yes, my point exactly... Do the Tucson channels consider people may be traveling to points north of Casa Grande? Heck, just show three or four cities in Central / Northern AZ; maybe Las Vegas, SoCal or NM. It can't be too much extra work. :)

Agreed, fusejockey. In general, the weather people in Arizona are not exactly "overworked" -- you wou.d think that they could spend some extra time preparing their graphics! Surprising that Tucson stations don't show the entire state...

It's a Tucson thing. They would just as soon hope that Phoenix doesn't exist. Little Brother syndrome.

Oh c'mon. I spent a few years in Providence, Rhode Island which was ALWAYS overshadowed by Boston. However, Boston was definitely on the Providence weather maps!!!

Tucson has nothing to worry about. It has its own niche and has the whole Southern third of the state of Arizona.

For those looking for more points on their temperature maps, I know 15 shows ABQ, Roswell, and some California places outside of the SD safe area and in the HD "wings".

You're right, Raymie, but I don't care for 15's weather people all that much. My favorite is Alison Miller and she's just a fill-in person.
