Tucson's New Real Country

Ya'll-

We're proud to present Classic Counry to Tucson and all of Southern Arizona! Indulge and Enjoy!! Real Country is KSAZ 580.

;D Yep, I fired up the super heterodyne radio and pulled in that 580 freq during the late morning and my speakers gave me whats left of the all weekend Hank Fest...

Now if we can get a killer oldies channel....... ???

wow! ;)

Real Country is from the ABC stable in Dallas, as is
the Giant 580's former Tiresome Classics feed.

IIRC, this (Real Country) format was started by
then-KCWW 1580 Tempe and put on the bird from
Buck's campus on Gilbert Drive, later to be sold
to SMN and moved to Dallas, then folded into ABC.

I was told by a reliable source in Tucson (not Ron,
whom we haven't seen here on the board in eons)
that the flip occurred mid-morning today. And for
those who will ask--does anyone have an aircheck
of the flip? ;D

The only TOH I've heard today was at 5:00pm and
they did not go to the ABC "generic" network news
(or any other network), but rather stayed with the
music feed. There seemed to be a "join" at :03 past.

I suppose for simplicity KSAZ wanted to stay with the
ABC syndication hookup, but if they had gone with the
Jones Classic Country format we would have heard
Lew Jones back on the air in Tucson after 30+ years.
I believe he is the format's PD and does 8am-noon PT.

So the big question now after the format flip is what
will air on the Giant 580 Saturday and Sunday mornings
from 6-7...will it be Dancin' Dan's Hoedown? ???

Hey Dancin' Dan plays country music....OK, it's music from other countries....a subtle distinction but that technically still qualifies as country music...I think.

I know Barna was given a coat hanger and a pair of pliars and told to build a radio station and after two hours of listening I have a new preset on my radio here in Gilbert. As far as the sound, the station sounds great in my car, AM -FM who cares. I hope KSAZ gets some news, weather and community info during the hour.

You must be the only five people who care about what this radio station plays.

Same demo, same $5 rate structure.

Zzzzzzzz.

I guess when you don't have accurate information, write whatever you want, sombody will read it. I did. Next time you make a post at least be humerous when you post BS. On the Tucson board I haven't seen any real action on any station on this board. I guess when you're in the 61st market in the country there is not much to talk about. Have they paved the roads in Tucson yet?

(and anything else) on the Giant 580?

Yesterday (Saturday) in the 6am hour--Real Country.
Today (Sunday) in the 6am hour--Real Country.
