TUFF TV Network coming to WKOB-LD

I did a re-scan of my digital converter box today and noticed that WKOB 42-4 is now labeled as Tuff TV but currently just showing color bars.

What's TUFF TV? ???

Looks a lot like Spike. From their web site (http://www.tufftv.com):

TUFF TV launched on June 30, 2009. TUFF TV is the first digital broadcast network to offer original programming targeted at men and the specific pursuits, interests, and hobbies they are passionate about. TUFF TV includes a unique and synergistic combination of programming genres aimed at the male demographic. TUFF TV provides the first-ever mix of these specific genres on one network. Programming content consists of Sports, Lifestyle, Drama, Reality, Talk, Specials, and Movies.

WKOB appears to have dropped TUFF TV. What is on that network's schedule is not what is airing over the air on ch 42.4 WKOB airs at the top and bottom of each hour a slide indicating History Of Television, and www.hottvchannel.com.

The website only has links to schedules for two other affiliates, in Dallas and Houtson. Luken's website, http://www.lukencommunications.com/ still has a link to TUFF TV and also another network, myfamilytv (formerly known as Faith TV) and that network's website lists that its NYC affiliate is WMBC TV 63 and also CGN (which is on WMBC 63.3). HOT TV does have a facebook page at:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/WKOB-HOT-TV-424/120976997979972

What's going on here? All for more classic TV programming, but it seems as if things are getting weird on WKOB.

Wow, looking at their schedule, it looks like "PD TV" would be a better name. Nearly everything on their schedule, as far as I can tell, is from the Public Domain! Looks like the network the boys from "The Idiot Box" (idiotboxers.tv) used to watch.

I had WKOB on yesterday afternoon and it looked like TUFF TV on 42.4. I also noticed there is now a shopping channel on 42.5.
Also, I wouldn't consider TUFF TV a classic TV network anyway. If you look at their schedule online they have shows about fishing, cars, and poker.

> I had WKOB on yesterday afternoon and it looked like TUFF TV on 42.4.

Not possible. I had it tuned in yesterday and nothing on the TUFF TV schedule matched what was shown on 42.4. Also, WKOB did air a slate at the top and bottom of each hour identifying it as HOT TV with their website link and never did any ID for TUFF TV ever appear on air. Also, just received a reply from the website email link confirming that TUFF TV was dropped and looking at the HOT TV schedule for Dallas seems to match up perfectly with the lineup that aired yesterday on 42.4.

WizeBuys (http://www.wizebuys.tv/) was added a few weeks ago on 42.5. RTV II and PBJ (the classic cartoon network) have launch dates for this July.

Oh ok. I didn't look at the TUff schedule so I just assumed that's what it was. What shows are supposed to be on RTV II?

Sorry, no idea about RTV II. Seems as if MyFamilyTV has some classic TV, if we ever see it on WMBC. And HOT TV appears to be classic TV as well as movies. Perhaps they might take the route MeTV has taken in the Chicago area -- MeTV has comedies and MeToo has dramas. I just hope WKOB can get a better signal as it fades away at sunset in NYC.

Other local low power stations have had test patterns up for a while, such as 26.1, 32.1, 35.1 and 43.1. I hope they will have something better than more infomercials.

I think you may need to rescan for the name to display properly, or perhaps even delete the channel and then rescan. I know that that was the case when WPIX moved things around, my sets didn't display the proper names until I did a rescan.

The website is almost non-existent, however it is hottvchannel.com and follow the link to Dallas as I have been told that WKOB will mirror that schedule for the most part on 42.4

There is a Facebook page at:

I never even heard of the majority of those shows.

Changes coming to WKOB-LD

More changes at WKOB. Program lineups have been tweaked for RTV (42.3) and HOT (42.4). Also, color bars have replaced Daystar on 42.1 and there is a reference to "GBC" -- no other indication of what is happening (Daystar continues on 42.2).

Have any of the online listings services updated the lineups for WKOB? Last I checked, many (if not all) were still listing programs from TUFF TV -- even weeks (or is it months?) after the switch to HOT! And where is the local schedule on HOT's website? They just revamped their web page, and still no mention of the affiliate here. You figure the folks at WKOB would want people to know what's actually on? Also -- any idea if their signal will improve? The FCC website indicates an application for an RF channel change from 2 to 42. Here in NYC the signal is not viewable at night due to interference.

The RTV program lineup has been changed on WSAH too, unfortunately. I think it's a network-wide RTV change. I have no interest in any of the shows on the new lineup.

RTV changed the lineup across the board yesterday without informing anyone. The seem to have lost the NBC/Universal library.

Also, Luken Communications is pushing hard for carriage of Tuff and MyFamilyTV on their affiliate's subchannels, in many cases providing equipment. Luken also owns a stake in Jewelery TV (formerly pre-Scripps Shop At Home).

MyFamilyTV is -like- ABC Family and it's ilk. Family oriented programs, the kid's shows were interesting, alot of PBS throwaways like Carmen Sandiego.

If you look at the PDF of RTV's schedule, it clearly indicates that it is issued quarterly. A change in programming at the end of each March, June, September and October should not be such a surprise. Agreed, most of the quality is gone with the new lineup. I guess I'll tune out for the Summer and check out their Fall schedule in a few months.

That disclaimer is there for YOUR benefit, not mine. It's also there because that is the window we are allowed to make changes. But in the past those changes have been minor.

It is customary and proper for a network to send this information to its affiliates weeks, if not months, in advance.

I totally agree, but then this is RTV and with all of the technical and financial problems with their operation that people everywhere have noticed, it seems as if that network is held together with smoke, duct tape and mirrors. Here in NYC (and I guess Dallas) many of the programs on MyFamilyTV appear on a channel marketed as HOT, History of TV. Any idea why they came up with their own branding? Also, any idea what's happening with 42.1 -- Daystar has been replaced (though it continues on the .2) with color bars and a reference to "GBC" -- any idea what GBC is?
Thanks

*facepalm* There's a problem with the NAKED CITY episodes - seems they were not transfered properly and have are wavy distorted in spots - you'd think they'd notice something like that.

Mind you, the commercials are fine!
