Tulsa Gets Ritmo 107.9FM

Tyler Media has flipped Sports 1270 KRXO Claremore/107.9 K300CY Tulsa OK from a simulcast of “107.7 The Franchise” KRXO-FM Okalahoma City to Spanish CHR “Ritmo 107.9“.

Positioned as “Pop Latino y Más”, the new format gives Tyler Media a pair of Spanish language outlets to pair with its Univision and Telemundo television affiliates in the market as the company also operates Regional Mexican “La Z 101.9” 1570 KTUZ/101.9 K270BK. The new format also creates a competitor to Key Plus Broadcasting’s rimshot Spanish CHR “Viva 100.5” KTFR Chelsea.

Tyler should flip "The Franchise" altogether. There's not room for TWO blowtorch FM sports stations in any market. Most markets only have one viable sports outlet, and if it's on FM it's not usually the best signal in the town. There are other formats they could try with the 92,000 watt station. I would do a Rhythmic-leaning CHR or a Rock format. I think that either one would look good on their portfolio.

Besides, OKC needs a good shake-up. Something new and exciting, you know?
