Anyone seen the latest Tulsa ratings? I'm in the dark. Would love to know the scoop!

Unless I'm reading it wrong (which is always possible), not technically the lowest rated FM; 101.5 which covers Tulsa county pretty solidly is below them, & KXOJ appears below the line for the 1st time in what, 15 years? Then there's another Stephens property, 97.1... although I STILL have a hard time calling that signal "in the market."

All of this is NOT to say KQLL shouldn't change format... just they technically still have a ways to go before they truly fall off the map.

This was a strange book all the way around: The Edge lost a point & a half? CCM was down no matter what the frequency, classic hits down a point no matter what stick we're talking about, & spanish was off a point. It just looks like a weird distribution of diaries.
 
Arbitron didn't release anything but information on subscribing stations in the Fall 08 numbers that are posted on this site. The Summer 08 book included all stations. That's why a station like KXOJ will show up in the Summer book, but appears with an * in the fall. There are several above the line stations that don't appear in the publicly released numbers for Fall 08.

There must be a good story behind Arbitrton's reason for doing this. Frankly, I think the practice is misleading and has a harmful effect on non-subscribing stations. If the reason for the practice is someone's unauthorized use of the numbers, they should just embargo the market...not play a "members only" game.
 
Agreed Stacker. The summer was the first time we were listed in a couple of years, and that was a book when even Arb confessed to me they came in way undersampled. I was told (involuntarily) by someone with the book we had a great fall, especially 3rd phase- but you won't see THAT publicly unless we subscribe. ;D
 
The whole joke behind embargoes and selective embargoes is that the only people who don't see the numbers are the general public. I don't question the practice of rating nonsubscribers. After all, Arbitron serves the advertisers, too, and they're not serving them well if they don't show them all of their options. I just don't understand what the benefit is in not showing the public 12+ numbers for nonsubscribers. 12+ buys are few-to-zero. However, Arbitron is Arbitron, and it will do what it wants with its data.
 
Yeah, I am more interested in seeing/hearing about the adult numbers anyway. My interest is in the following battles:

KMOD & KJSR
KVOO & K95
KRMG & KFAQ
KHits & The Beat

Thoughts??

KMOD & KJSR KMOD had a much better book, Star fell a bit but still solid.
KVOO & K95 KVOO moved ahead of KWEN in most demos except young. Seems K95 got a nice kiss on the lips with the youngsters.
KRMG & KFAQ Both stations saw impressive growth with the election and the economy on the radar.
KHits & The Beat K-Hits rebounded (except for their AM drive) nicely. The Beat fell below them pretty much across the board. The Beats morning show saw its ratings fall in half too. Obviously mornings are difficult.

Footnote: The Edge is still smoking like Michael Phelps!!!!

Bob, I owe you & KXOJ an apology, then... I thought if they listed you at all they listed all your numbers... it seems crazy because all it does is make stations look bad, all because they haven't paid the extortion fee to Arbitron.

I guess the next book will tell the tale, but this just looks to me like an unbalanced book, at least 12+...
 
If you read the fineprint on R&R or radio-online or wherever you look at 12+ you see that they state that only subscribers are listed- it's no big deal. We've never sold by numbers anyway! ;D
