TUNA IS BACK.....KUDOS TO KRTH!

the top of the hour jingle is the worst offender...the "KRTH HD" is pitched differently
from the rest of the legal ID(s) cut. heard it a couple of times yesterday (Sat 2/16)
while listening to Tuna. BTW...he does sound relaxed and very upbeat...
and believe it or not...I actually like the "random play" weekend theme.
(I'd steal the idea, but we don't have enough live weekend bodies to pull it off)

They should just have the top of the hour jingle sound the way it always has (no HD), and then after the next song, have the jock just say the legal ID with the HD. I think if you are within 5 minutes either side of the top of the hour, you're legal.

If that isn't an option, they should re-record the jingle with people actually singing the HD part.

Right now, it sounds ridiculous. It reminds me of those car ads where the disclaimers at the end are read at lightning speed just to get them in!

Actually they have a TOH jingle sung exactly the way you suggested. I heard it on the morning show. It was all acappella. Sounded good.

KRTH used to do an "illegal" legal ID jingle at the TOH, with the legal being
buried (track from Charlie) in the :50 stopset.

Same thing (illegal...legal...Charlie) was done at KLUV.

All this of course before the HD1 ID requirement kicked in.

I remember when Charlie Tuna was the morning jock at KODJ 93.1 back around 1989/1991ish. THey also had the oldies format although their main music playlist was from the 50's and 60's with none of the 70s/80s stuff. Funny part is KODJ was CBS RADIO even changing their ID to KCBS-FM in 1991. No relationship to the KODJ in Salt Lake City which picked up the call letters in the mid 1990s.

What do you know. KRTH still has a spark of life in them with Charlie Tuna on weekends.

Finally got to hear Charlie, and I have to say he does sound up beat. It sounded like he was enjoying himself a great deal. That was nice to hear. Smart move Krth!

This is the best Charlie Tuna has sounded in years. It's great to hear him as a 'disc jockey' again. He's tight. He's bright. And for me, growing up listening to Tuna on TenQ, hearing him talking up the tunes of the 70's just brings back memories.
