TuneIn question

Does anybody know if the broadcasters or community members do most of the updating on TuneIn? If it is the broadcasters, then why are CC and Cumulus bothering keeping their listings up to date if they won't allow their stations to be heard over that platform? Yes I do know either a broadcaster or community member can update the directory.

Our station (small-market) just re-launched our webstream a few weeks ago and I've tried and tried to get us listed on TuneIn and it's not there. I've submitted the forms and URL's and everything and it said it should be up within a couple days...two weeks later...nothing. I've resubmitted and everything...is this common? No wonder there is no phone number for service listed on TuneIn's site.

Adam, what station? Call and frequency please? I'll ask them about that when they get back to me about my other issues. I submitted several updates for New Rushmore Radio a few days ago and still haven't gotten anything back. Michel in support is usually really informative.

Some companies only allow their own employees to update their TuneIn listings. Otherwise, anyone can update them. TuneIn will provide whatever the broadcasters want.

As for why Clear Channel and Cumulus keep their listings up-to-date, it's probably because listening to a Clear Channel station on a desktop machine via TuneIn will pull up iHeartRadio and launch the stream in iHeartRadio. TuneIn will also provide anyone who bookmarks those stations a note saying it won't work on the smartphone app. So, it's free advertising for Clear Channel and Cumulus, even though they don't use the app itself. I have a set of presets on TuneIn labeled "Desktop Only" for me to use on my home or work computer, and I simply don't use those presets when using my iPhone or iPad.

As for Adam's post about updating TuneIn, it sometimes takes a little persistence. It seems like it's kind of the luck-of-the-draw as to who reads your update. Some people seem more on-the-ball than others. I can remember trying to update a station and not hearing anything for a month. So, I updated it again, and I got a note not even two hours later telling me it was now available on TuneIn.

Sorry I hadn't logged in for a few days. The good news -- we are now listed on the TuneIn app at WKLW 94.7 from Paintsville, KY.
