Tuning around

Does anyone know about,or has noticed a power increase for 540, Radio Zion? It measures 3db higher than 800, where in the past 800 had the
stronger signal.
KPBS's HD went belly up,going into the dreaded"four carrier" mode, rendering HD reception useless. Glad Ibiquity doesn't build cars...
XEKAM, 950- 1090's audio can(again) be heard in the background during silent spots, a problem that appeared a year or two ago, and had been "fixed".
A trip to view KOPA-FM in Pala brings up a technical question. The 2, phased Scala antenna setup I understand; it's the 2 Scala FMV dipoles, side
mounted on the tower. Can't find any FCC information authorizing their use.

I was at KOPA/Rez Radio on Friday and spent about two hours with John Fox. I'll have photos posted tomorrow of the antenna, the operation, and the commitment to the community. The primary focus is to provide the residents of Pala a single source for emergency information. The antenna is directional because of XETRA-FM 91.1 and KUSC-FM 91.5 FM The reception is from about the 15 east to the Pauma Valley Indian reservation.

Please don't suggest that KOPA is running unauthorized equipment. All the engineering data is available and everything is in order. John showed me the public files.

A nicely run radio station, and John Fox is taking his mission in stride. KOPA is more than an information source, it is becoming a community asset for the Pala Band of Indians; and they should be proud.

KPBS update- the HD signal is back up this A.M.
LA Fitness on Navajo Road has claimed 106.1 as their frequency, for in-house TV audio. Audible for over a half- mile in some directions.
