Tuning Crystal Question

Does anyone know if the Tuning crystals from a Harris MW 10 A are comaptible or not for use in a 5 KW Power Rock ? I am considering harvesting parts from the Harris for spare parts...Any help would be appreciated here...

I have never known parts from different companies to be compatable. The Power Rock was Collins' answer to Harris' MW series.

Some parts in the power supply of the MW could be used in the Continental possibly, but the crystals are not interchangeable.

According to Continental, if the Harris has either a HA-5 or HA-6 type crystal then the crystals from the Harris will work in the Power Rock since International built both for both manufacturers at the same time. Does anyone know what type the Harris has ?

I would suggest you give Harris a call. 800-231-9673

such a shame....I installed that MW10A new at that station.....Continental uses dividers to bring a 2nd or 4th harmonic down to the carrier for better stability.....I am sure the Harris xtal will not work.....I guess that is what happens to a transmitter when it isnt maintained....it gets scrapped.

Once I finally got the truth about what was what with the transmitter and my electrician going over it thoroughly, it turns out that not only had the unit taken more than one lightning strike which was evident from the burn marks but it also had not been maintained properly and several "Band aids" or patchy temporary repair work was done on the unit. With it being the most valuable and important part of a station I am amazed that it was so neglected. Oh well, all I can do is get it pulled out of there and move on. There are alot of good parts still intact in it and maybe I can salvage some of it by parting it out for others that need parts...Damn thing looks like a "Sub Zero" Refrigerator. Maybe I could convert it into one and open a restaurant...LOL

We finally got our crystal problem solved. International is OKC are a Godsend. We got them to do a 5 day turnaround. Amazing!!! My hat is off to them, they are a great company!!!
Thanks Sarah!!!
