Turi Ryder

She's on for Darian O'Toole today. What in the world will FREE FM do with an actual talk show host, vs. a bunch of DJ's talking about nothing of any real consequence.

God forbid we ever see an "FM" talk station simply try to do traditional talk with more energy and a younger-oriented execution.

What would the consultants say. My, my, my.

Its great to hear Turi Ryder back behind the microphone again! She is a very
good and entertaining talk show host! She would have been my first choice for
that timeslot! Way to go Turi! I gave Darian quite a few listens and she just
bored me to pieces!

Wasn't Turii a sub on KGO a few years ago, or am I mistakened? If so KIFR should sign her. KGO has Edie Sellers subbing sometimes and she has topics of any real consequence like her high school reunion.

Turi has already been on FREE for Darian once before. She's fine but I find her not as entertaining as Darian.

I might be wrong, but wasn't Turi on KFRC-610 in its last years as a Top 40 station as well as spinning the Big Band/Standards when they were Magic 61?

Re: Turi On Tuesday...

Just to continue the thread, Turi Ryder is back subbing for Darian again today (Tuesday). From her intro, it sounds like she's actually doing the show from San Francisco rather than via ISDN.

Re: Turi On Tuesday...

Darian = short timer...She flames out when she gets to the big time. Listening to her show, drunk or not, she seems to think being "Darian" is enough. Screw show prep. Sad, really...

Re: Turi On Tuesday...

But really - it's one thing to provide clever and edgy talk between 70s oldies, and another thing entirely to have to carry an entire show. Not to sound like a broken record - but I expect to be entertained AND informed by talk shows, and I like well prepared talk hosts who know both current news and some history. Whether or not I agree with them politically (or any other way) is totally irrelevant. Listening to "personalities" that are less informed than me is just irritating.

Re: Turi On Wednesday...

at this point, you have to think something is up.

Darian and Diamond Dave?

> at this point, you have to think something is up.

Could Darian be "vacationing" with David Lee Roth?

Like firing Darian. I E-mailed Turi asking if she Subbed on KGO and she said yes. I might listen. This Darian person does sound like a trainwreck, by your description.

Roth, O'Toole, the huge $$$ losses, the Free-FM, post Stern trends just coming out, suing Stern. Not a good couple weeks to be CBS radio.

Re: Darian and Diamond Dave?

CBS management, top to bottom, is solely to blame for all these bad tidings. It's reaping what you sow, as the Good Book (not Arbitron) says.

Wow, you must hate Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly.

(Sorry, that was a cheap shot.)

I've said it before on this board and I'll say it again: Free FM was a poorly planned venture from the get-go. It was a foolish to assume you'd always have Stern, foolish not to prepare for the possibility that one day he might be gone, foolish to think he could be replaced, and foolish to be without a plan once he left. One wonders if any of those fools will be fired. Apparently, the predictable pattern for dismisals seems to be taking shape. Who's next, prgramming managers? What a colossal blunder.
