turn key TV station- For Sale!

Not my station- not sure if this is the correct board but was such an interesting prospect I just had to post it.

http://www.secondunittv.com/

from link:

"This is an offering for a 8,000 square foot television station and creative production facility located on a 2.5 acre lot with a 1,750 square foot corporate home. This property and business has been built from the ground floor by a single owner over the past 15 years. He has built this custom production facility to create television, social media, design print, audio and video productions. This TV station is an active FCC licensed television station with studios to create film, television and audio production under one roof.

Television RF is located at this site on a 180 ft Rohn tower with digital and analog transmitters.

Helipad is licensed with the FAA and used for guests to arrive from several metropolitan areas. It is also used for local shoots.

This is a TURN-KEY facility! "

wish I had the $$$$$ to own my own station... wonder who the confidential company is??

At 180 ft AGL, this has to be an LPTV (or class A).

Maybe they just located the station on some of the highest land in the coverage area? If your on a 2000 foot tall mountain all you would need is a tower taller than the trees, if they have trees..

I've always wanted a helipad. I'd need to find a helicopter if I bought a helipad. Grin.

The description says 60 miles from Las Vegas, 60 miles from Death Valley and 20 from California... so it's NW of Vegas, on the back side of the mountains west of the city. Pahrump, maybe?

No maybe about it. Pahrump is the only city fitting that description. Sounds a lot like KPVM-LP, which was first licensed in Dec. 1997, 15 years ago.

Sounds like there may be another Weird Al movie in here someplace...

Does Pahrump have a spatula store?
Well, you do use a spatula to flip over eggs but the Chicken Ranch in Pahrump has nothing to do laying eggs.
It does however offer a laying service of a much different variety.

I guess that means Pahrump is not in the same county as Vegas?

If Pahrump is in the Vegas DMA and not in the same county this station could be used as a 24/7 commercial showing the live "roll call" at the local Cat House from the perspective of the customers and pump that signal to hotel cable systems in Vegas. It could also explain the Helipad. Have high end sub contractors working at the Cat House and give "free" air shuttle service to and from Vegas for regulars and high rollers.

It sure seems like I'm putting together a business plan doesn't it. I better move along now. :)

Jus sayin'.

Weird Al would never make it in Pahrump unless they opened a Spatula City outlet to draw shoppers from Vegas and Death Valley. He'd need that add revenue to pay the weather ho.

Geez, here I am making fun of Pahrump when I find out the population is over 36,000.
There's another thread on here about a full-power network affiliate in Alpena, Michigan
which does not have a third that many people.

Las Vegas is in Clark County. Pahrump (which Autocorrect changed to "pay rump", which is tasteless but accurate) is in what Art Bell, who did his "Coast to Coast" show from his home there, used to call "The Kingdom of Nye"....Nye County.

that's funny re: the Art Bell comment because the station location and the small-ness of it gave it that sort of flavor.

lol @ "pay rump" auto-correct! And yes that heli-pad is ODD to have at that location.. wonder what it was used for?? The whole thing smacks of mystery. I too, wonder what the selling price is. Almost tempted to use the "Contact Us" on their page to ask a few questions.

A helipad could always just be a big "x" painted on a flat concrete parking lot. Good salesmen find ways to embellish everything.

If you follow the link in the initial post and click on the tabs, there are pictures. It's a real helipad and a very nice facility. He's smart in that he's spread his business to include production and is pitching at second unit TV and movie crews. But I'm guessing both it and the TV business would be better if they were in Las Vegas...and he's too close to have his own market and too far to be convenient.

Isn't it painted as a big "H" in a circle? An "X" marking denotes a closed runway.

Maybe. I always thought the H stood for hospital. I guess standing for helicopter makes just as much sense.

The H might also be the representative shape of the helicopter's 'legs/wheels/little support ladders at the bottom?'
Can't force myself to remember what they are called right this instant....too lazy at 2:27AM. :)
