Turner retiring?

Heard that WDBO's Jim Turner was hanging it up soon and that the radio station was thinking of using Bob Opsahl to fill that slot...don't know if that means he'll be buring the candle at both ends...have to be a lot of people going after position...who do you think would be the best person for that job?

Say it ain't so ,Jim. You could have the gig until you're 90. Why not take a vacation and then come back refreshed? What's that? You've decided to call it quits. You don't want to die at the board. Ok, we understand.
Scott Anez is your replacement. Please show him how everything works.

I too would prefer Scott Anez, but would he give you his duties with the Magic for the big chair? The morning show is the better gig,
but Scott has been the Magic man for twenty years. He's the point-man for the radio network.

Is it possible that he doesn't mind someone following in his footsteps, but would prefer to be out of his footsteps first?

Turner is basically a traffic cop..Cox should record his hand-offs, time-checks, crutches, and promo teases and problem solved...air the recordings forever.

What makes you think he's "hanging it up"? What happened to Jim Bishop? Maybe the female GM has a revoluntionary idea like bringing in by satelite still another washed up, has been, dried up disk jockey who is now an expert on governing.

It's 2010 and Jim Turner has been at WDBO since 1972. If he were just a traffic cop his days would have been numbered long ago. He has outlasted everyone who passed through the 'DBO doors. He was top notch in PM drive for years and far superior to morning man Perry Moore (God rest his soul) in AM drive. I, for one, think he has years and years to go. I hope he thinks so, too.

Don't get me wrong...Turner is well-deserved of his longevity...but he is a very good traffic cop. Listen to his content...soft-ball questions and the same freakin' guests week-after-week..usually other reporters and anchors. He's DBO's Larry King.

Does anyone have any information on the morning ratings between 580 and 540? It looks like the overall ratings have gotten closer, but I don't have any specifics.
