Turntable Tuesday

There's a new deal* on 94.5 KOOL-FM where they play a few more "lost oldies classic hits"
on Tuesdays. As the Stevemeister says, "go to our website" http://www.koolradio.com
to find out more about it.

It's a nice idea, but I can't really get into it until one particular song (cough...Bang 545...cough)
is removed from regular power rotation and moved to Turntable Tuesday status. ;)

*: pun intended for Jeffrey T.

Is it going to be anything like KRTH's "HD Tuesday"? That's a real good segment on L.A.'s FM powerhouse, KRTH, where every Tuesday night from 8:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. they play nothing but traditional oldies from the 50's and 60's. It seems to be a pretty popular segment with listeners in L.A. since there is no other station in the Southland that plays traditional oldies. If KOOL does go in that direction, that would be a refreshing addition since those oldies have been thrown to the way-side in recent years by KOOL. Also, as we all know, there is no station in the valley that plays those 50's and 60's oldies at night thanks to the Lumberyard not broadcasting at night. Bring back those golden oldies KOOL! 8)

Bang....the Brown Eyed Girl!!! It wont happen.....its still a huge fav of those who dont mind burnout hits.

I admit I stole the general concept for this from a posting on another oldies classic hits
station's social media page, but here goes...

Hey KOOL, for Lent ya think you can give up playing Brown Eyed Girl for 40 days? ;D

Saturday 3:59 PM.
Sunday 8:07 AM.
Monday 3:19 PM.

http://www.yes.com is a wonderful thing to have when you want to see how often
KOOL-FM plays a particular song. Which song? Ah, you know... ;D

And did you notice a few '70s songs have been in power rotation recently? Too Late
To Turn Back Now
(Cornelius Bros/Sis Rose) is one that comes to mind, also heavy
play of Boz Scaggs' Lowdown (yes, it's always the horrible 45 edit).

But what's with all the early '60s moldy oldie Dion stuff outside of Turntable Tuesdays? ???

And one (early) '80s song they've been playing the heck out of recently--the Spinners'
Cupid/I've Loved You For A Long Time, including just a few minutes ago.
