You are correct with no jocks and no remotes . That is why this thread gets a thumbs down. Even moving WGOK to 104.1 makes more sense than a station without any jocks .

There's already an Adult Hits station in the market - why would they put a second one on. If you're going to go up against a station - you should go after a big target like WABB.

First moronic move...giving up on Hot 104, and giving Gary HIS winning station in Kicks. The typical marketing, and internal bs killed this station. Cumulus won't take on WABB. No matter how weak they are, it would still take an amount of money. If Cumulus is going satellite, they obviously don't have it.

Yep, I was definitely wrong about that. I could have sworn that ABC/Dial Global/Triton/whoever-runs-it-now only had the rights to distribute Jack in 100+ markets, though.

never mind...i see it's from the satellite feed. I wonder how many folks tuned out after just hearing the first 10 minutes of the new station only to wind up having to listen to several minutes of commercials afterward?

Also, if you're interested in the (non-event) of the stunting recording, I captured the last few minutes of the TV stunt (which was played in the same hour-long loop from four minutes after the hour, each hour until 1:04 CDT), and the first few minutes of the Jack launch, and I've got it right here...

I doubt there is a top 100 restriction, Nashville has 96.3 Jack FM, Knoxville had (may still have) 95.3 Jack FM, and I believe Tallahasee has a Jack FM, or Bob, fm, or some type of FM.

Probably a dumb question, but nobody's said specifically what format or service this station is running now. The two songs mentioned sound like they could be Adult Hits or Hot AC.

It's Jack FM. They play what they want. A mix of hot ac, rock, and chr.

The rule is that Dial Global syndicates Jack outside of the top-40 markets. Nashville's Jack FM is local because it launched before the deal was signed with the satellite companies. Knoxville's Jack is satellite, though it's co-owned with Nashville. South Central, I've been told, wanted to launch Jack in Knoxville when it launched Nashville but couldn't because SparkNet apparently wouldn't allow it on class A signals. Dial Global, however, doesn't care, and ABC didn't care when it had the rights to syndicate Jack.

Also, I've heard some companies, like CBS, got around the 40+ satellite requirement by signing group deals for Jack instead of for individual stations. That's apparently why San Antonio's Jack is also heard on a KJAV 104.9, a class A stick in the Rio Grande Valley, and how CBS got Jack on 105.9 in Fresno. Though CBS has sold both San Antonio and Fresno, the original deals must have carried over.

No, C Murder, the Dial Global “Jack” network is for markets under 50 plus.
