TV 94-5

at noon today....945-5 Kiss FM in Wilmington died

last tune was "Let's Kiss Before We Say Goodbye"

now TV 94-5 playing television theme tunes and promoting a new station at 9:45 a.m. 2morrow

"Wilmington radio will never be the same" one of the sweepers

I would think 99.9 has oldies pretty well covered - at least in the area of being able to appeal to a broader demo. Haven't spent much time in Wilmington lately, but there is some decent radio in the market.

So...can someone who is in listening range tell us what they're playing? Classic Hits is pretty vague. If it is classic rock, what the hell are they thinking? They're going to try to compete with WRQR and the Bone? It's suicide...they might as well just simulcast 980 the WAAV on that signal.

When did WKXS make the move to 94.5? I remember they were on 94.1. Wilmington is kind of heavy on different rock formats with WRQR Rock 104.5, WBNE 93.7 The Bone, WXQR Carolina's Pure Rock 105.5 and WSFM Surf 98.3.

Steve Miller, the Police, Pat Benatar, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith

Entirely too wussy for the type of Classic Rock listener that lives in Wilmington.

Someone is not going to last and I don't think it will be Rock 104.5 or the Bone. Too much heritage in those stations.

But as the saying goes, it's their funeral.

Well...it's not really much of a risk for Cumulus. They already dominate the market with their other stations anyway, and it's not like Kiss was bringing in that much cash. Why the hell not give it a shot?

I still don't think it'll work though. Too much competition, as you said, and you're right, I can't see any UNCW kids tuning in for "Love is a Battlefield".

I have heard "Cats In The Cradle", Peter Gabriel "In Your Eyes", ect.

They sound more like The Bone or Will (without Bangles)....

Big ol yawn if ya ask me

Signal sounds better than 93.7 or 103.7, though...Bone better hustle with that upgrade....Or brush up on their spanish

"I can't see Paul Knight going Spanish..."

Yeah, someone else has to do it first and successfully before he'll try and copy it.
