TV and FM SKIP

The last couple of evenings has seen E-SKIP on TV and FM. Here in Poughkeepsie, NY on Tuesday (6/16), I even noted what could well be Cuba on channels 2 and 3 with just rabbit ears. New FM logs include CBNL-93.7 from Newfoundland and "The Joy FM" on 91.5, either WCIE or WJFH from Florida.

On 6/17 evening, caught ID slide from KTBS-3, with a very big "3" on it. On FM, new logs from WJSU-88.5 Jackson, MS with RDS display, WJTF-89.9 Panama City, FL, WPGA-100.9 Perry, GA, and WLDA-100.5 Slocomb, AL. There was also some tropo Wednesday evening: stations as far as Maryland noted while looking for skip, including WSCL-89.5 and WAAI-100.9.

As we approach the Summer Solstace, we ought to find more days with active E-Skip. Good DX to all!!

Especially with all the thunderstorms & temp changes in the midwest & east.

Don't forget to have your digital camera and tape/MP3 recorder ready in case to record the DX reception! Of course, y'all gonna share your long-haul DX catches with all of us, right?

Last night I connected my outdoor TV antenna to my Stereo Receiver to try to pick up Smooth Jazz 87.7 more clearly. The tuner displays "103.00" for example, and will tune even and odd frequencies like 94.20 and 99.70 WLFM is a bit distorted in Stereo since Smooth Jazz 87.7 is really at 87.75, and this tuner does not tune in 50 kHz increments, so I have to set the tuner to Mono to hear WLFM clearly. I do have an analog tuner that I will be connecting for WLFM and DXing. A few moments later, around 6 p.m. 6/17 an announcer was mentioning "VPR" on 89.5 so it could have been Vermont, but the signal didn't last long enough to confirm it. I have no idea if VPR programs are syndicated, and it may have been a more nearby Public radio station. It was mixed in with WNIJ from De Kalb, IL.

I picked up a nightlighting channel 6 audio on 87.7 last night at 9:10 in New Jersey. I think it is the channel 6 in Miami. 92.1 also came to life with country music.
And I was complaining about the interference on 87.7. It's funny to be complaining about interference from a station in Miami all the way in NJ.
