TV Channels of the Week - 14 thru 20

What can you get on TV Channels 14-20 either now or before the DTV transition?

Here in Vermilion, OH I could get before the 6-12-09 DTV transition:

14 - WCMU/Mt. Pleasant, MI (received only once via tropo)
15 - WANE/Ft. Wayne, IN tropo
16 - CHWI/Wheatley, ON (almost always there)
WNDU/South Bend, IN (tropo)
17 - WNED/Buffalo, NY (tropo)
18 - WHTV/Jackson, MI (tropo)
19 - WOIO/Cleveland, OH (local)
20 - WMYD/Detroit, MI (almost always there with rabbit ears. A rooftop directional antenna could bring this station in on any day)

From Coldwater, MI

analog: pre-2000

14- WCMU- Mount Pleasant, MI
14- Religious LPTV from Battle Creek, MI
15- WANE- Fort Wayne, IN
16- WNDU- South Bend, IN
16- CHWI- Wheatley, ON (tropo)
17- WXMI- Grand Rapids, MI
18- WLFI- Lafayette, IN (tropo) (WHTV Jackson wasn't on the air yet)
19- WOIO- Cleveland, OH (tropo)
20- WXON- Detroit, MI
20- WOBC-LP- Battle Creek, MI (original channel before moving to 14)
20- WFYI- Indianapolis, IN

I've lived a few different places and have no OTA TV capabilities here. Most interesting place and time was Lafayette IN (I had access to WLFI's huge UHF monitoring antenna). So....
14- don't remember
15- WANE-TV Fort Wayne / WICD (?) Champaign
16- WNDU-South Bend /WPTD Dayton
17- WAND, Decatur IL / also a Fox 17 Des Moines
18 WLFI, after sign off Lexington and Milwaukee at times
19-WXIX Cincinnati
20-WFYI Indianapolis

Before 2009 - Bothell WA

14
15
16 KONG Seattle WA (IND)
17
18
19
20 KTBW Tacoma WA (TBN)

crappy RCA TV however - could never pick up KBTC 28 (40 mi) and barely got KVOS 12 (70 mi)

In Gary, IN, this is what I got on 14 - 20 in the analog days, & what I get in digital today. This is from Gary, IN

Analog days

14 & 15 - Nothing, as these are off-limits to TV in Chicagoland, & never picked up anything from other markets either on these channels.

16 - WNDU (NBC) South Bend, IN. Had I had an antenna mounted & pointed toward South Bend, I might have gotten this one most days, as this was one of the strongest stations, along with WSBT-TV (CBS) on 22 from South Bend.

17 - Nothing

18 - prior to WHNW-LP signing on from Gary, IN, I used to get WVTV Milwaukee during tropo. Once WHNW-LP signed on, This was all I got, though the signal was that bad, & went in & out a lot.

19 - Nothing

20 - WYCC (PBS) Chicago (local station)

Digital from Gary, IN

14 & 15 - Nothing, since 14 & 15 are still off-limits to TV in Chicagoland, though the FCC is working on getting Land Mobile moved out of 14 - 20, in order to move those station on channel 51, over to 14 - 20.

16 - Nothing at this time. WNDU decided to stay on channel 42 for digital.

17 - WYIN (PBS) Gary, IN (maps to 56.1 & 56.3) (was on 56 in the analog era, & their signal improved a lot since going digital)

18 - WHNW-LD Gary, IN (maps to 18.1) (this station went digital last year, but LeSea Broadcasting might shut off this station, since they're supposedly having money problems, & might not be able to afford to keep this station on the air. They barely came up with the money to convert it to digital, & shut off sister station WHVI-LP 24 Valparaiso, IN for the same reason, money problems, & never bothered to convert that station to digital).

19 - WGN-TV (CW) Chicago (maps to 9.1 - 9.3)

20 - WPVN-CD Chicago (maps to 24.1 - 24.7) (mostly foreign language programming, including Polvision, the Polish language network, operated by the same people who run this station)

For me there has always been only one OTA station in the 14-20 range either before or after the digital transition, which is WJKT Fox 16 in Jackson, TN. I live about 2 miles away from their tower, which is actually in Alamo, TN, about 20 miles NW of Jackson. Their OTA channel now is actually 39.

There are CPs for 4 LP stations listed as being in Jackson in the 14-20 range, but none of them are on to my knowledge.

When I lived closer to Dyersburg, TN I could occasionally get KTEJ PBS 19 in Jonesboro, AR, but definitely not now.
