A little more than an hour ago (at this writing; I'm writing this message at 5:25 P.M. EDT August 2nd), an Air France Airbus 340 jumbo-jet skidded-off the runway at Pearson Airport in Toronto while trying to land during a severe thunderstorm, and burst into flames.
There are unconfirmed reports that there may be quite a few survivors, including the pilot.
Down here in Boston, the local late-afternoon TV newscasts have dropped their usual format to cover this story. In fact, WBZ-4, which normally broadcasts an hour of news at 4 P.M. and a half-hour at 6, has pre-empted "Dr. Phil" to continue covering this story.
I would suspect that in Toronto, CFTO-9, Global, and CBLT-5 have been running live wall-to-wall coverage, as have CBC's Newsworld and CTV's Newsnet and locally in the GTA, Citypulse 24.
Has there been live wall-to-wall TV coverage on CITY-57 (perhaps simulcasting Citypulse 24) and/or CHCH-11 (perhaps simulcasting the Global stations if they've been doing wall-to-wall coverage)??
Have Canada's over-the-air TV networks, CBC, CTV and Global, been carrying wall-to-wall live coverage nationally??
