below--VERY IMPORTANT

President Gerald Ford's Funeral Coverage--Saturday, December 30, 2006

The following lays out our plans for Saturday’s Coverage.

Our coverage on Saturday will be fluid. Please alert your News, Operations and
Master Control personnel to monitor the Network, BAS, EVA, Hotsheet and
Spacemail for continuous updates to our coverage plans. Since e-mail delivery
can be slow, it is imperative that you make sure both EVA and BAS are operating
properly. These systems should be considered your first vehicle of
communication between your Newsroom and the Network.

CBS News coverage will be sustaining with no Network Commercials or Local
Station Breaks. Katie Couric will anchor this coverage with reports and
analysis from Chief Washington Correspondent, Bob Schieffer; Ford Historian,
Doug Brinkley; Jim Axelrod at the White House; Joie Chen at the World War II
Memorial; Thalia Assuras at the Capitol and in California, Bill Whitaker at St.
Margaret's Episcopal Church.

NEWSPATH will have a clean feed of all of the events taking place – please be
sure to check NEWSPATH Spacemail and live menus for where to find those
events.

CBS Special Report Plan: (ALL APPROX TIMES) ****revised

12:00noon ET/9:00am CPT: President's Ford's casket departs St. Margaret's
Episcopal Church for the Palm Springs airport. At this time there will be a
brief departure ceremony which we will carry as a special report.

12:40pm ET/9:40am CPT: There will be a brief ceremony at Palm Springs Airport

Ford are expected to arrive at Andrews Airforce Base at this time. We will go
on the air with the arrival and the ceremony that follows. At the conclusion
of the ceremony it is our plan to conclude coverage, as the motorcade will no
longer be visible, BUT THIS COULD CHANGE.

If we do go off the air, we will resume coverage at approximately 6:15pm
ET/3:15pm CPT once the casket pauses at the World War II memorial for a
ceremony with bagpippers and the boy scouts, afterwhich the casket continues on
to the Capitol and then on to the Rotunda for the State Funeral.

At the conclusion of our coverage, which is expected at 8:00pmET/5:00pm CPT, we
will provide stations with a 94-second station break at 7:58:26pm ET/4:58:26pm
CPT.

The above snippets--and other later sections referring to weekday daytime programming and The View--seem to indicate that ABC is now providing a Mountain time zone feed. Can any MC Ops or other ABC affil staffers in Mountain zone stations confirm or deny this, and if so, is it for the entire broadcast day? Or is this a series of special MT feeds due solely to the special news coverage (Ford funeral) and fluid end times of same?

The contingency advisory for CBS affiliates tended to confirm there is still no regular CBS Mountain zone feed as it referred only to the "New York origination" and "west coast stations" regarding how the CBS Evening News would or wouldn't air.

more info about NBC's coverage

SATURDAY:

1:15 pm ET/10:15 am PT - Air Force One departs from Palm Springs International Airport for Washington, with President Ford's remains and his family.

NBC News will provide live coverage of the funeral, anchored by Brian Williams. Tom Brokaw and Tim Russert will join Brian. Presidential historian Michael Beschloss will also participate in the broadcast, as will congressional correspondent Chip Reid.

News Channel and MSNBC coverage.

Please monitor APT and Urgent Messages for additional information from NBC Network Operations, as well as News Channel advisories and Black Box announcements throughout the weekend.

(What does APT mean)

CBS "New York Origination" likely refers to ET/CT/MT.

From the first NBC affiliate alert:

"We anticipate the service will conclude before 19:45, and the Special Report will conclude by 20:00 EST, returning you to regular programming at that time."

New York-area viewers better hope so. NBC O&O WNBC-4 is carrying the Giants-Redskins NFL game at 8. WNBC-4 is picking up the telecast from NFL Network -- which isn't available in most of the New York DMA. The Giants have to win for a shot at the playoffs and Giants fans will be angry if the Ford funeral runs over.

sorry for the delay, here are some of the plans for tommorow and some of today's plans i never got a chance to tell you about, starting with ABC

ABC News will carry tomorrow’s final interment of President Ford at the Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids on a special report basis live to the full network. Coverage is expected to begin at approx 3:30 PM-ET and last for approx 30 minutes. Charles Gibson will anchor this coverage.

CBS

CBS News Special Events coverage of President Ford's state funeral at the
National Cathedral
will now begin at 9:00am ET/6:00am CPT. Katie Couric will anchor this
coverage from Washington, D.C.

This coverage will be sustaining with no Network Commercials or Local Station
Breaks. Katie Couric will anchor from Washington, DC, along with reports and
analysis from Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer; Ford Historian Doug
Brinkley; Jim Axelrod from the White House; Thalia Assuras from the Capitol;
Bill Whitaker from Grand Rapids, Michigan. We will also welcome back retired
correspondent Phil Jones for this special coverage. Jones covered Ford while
he was in the White House and got to know him personally over the years, he
will give us his unique perspective as the events of the day unfold.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Should coverage run past 12:15pm ET, CBS News will endeavor to
provide a cutaway cue for stations wishing to go to local news. The cue will
be: " You're watching CBS News coverage of the Death of a President."

TBA--approx. 1:00pm ET/10:00am CPT--CBS News may go on the air with a brief
