The following lays out our plans for Saturday’s Coverage.
Our coverage on Saturday will be fluid. Please alert your News, Operations and
Master Control personnel to monitor the Network, BAS, EVA, Hotsheet and
Spacemail for continuous updates to our coverage plans. Since e-mail delivery
can be slow, it is imperative that you make sure both EVA and BAS are operating
properly. These systems should be considered your first vehicle of
communication between your Newsroom and the Network.
CBS News coverage will be sustaining with no Network Commercials or Local
Station Breaks. Katie Couric will anchor this coverage with reports and
analysis from Chief Washington Correspondent, Bob Schieffer; Ford Historian,
Doug Brinkley; Jim Axelrod at the White House; Joie Chen at the World War II
Memorial; Thalia Assuras at the Capitol and in California, Bill Whitaker at St.
Margaret's Episcopal Church.
NEWSPATH will have a clean feed of all of the events taking place – please be

CBS Special Report Plan: (ALL APPROX TIMES) ****revised
12:00noon ET/9:00am CPT: President's Ford's casket departs St. Margaret's
Episcopal Church for the Palm Springs airport. At this time there will be a
brief departure ceremony which we will carry as a special report.
12:40pm ET/9:40am CPT: There will be a brief ceremony at Palm Springs Airport
with the family as the casket is being brought aboard the airplane. We will
again carry this event as a special report.
****revised****5:20pm ET/2:20pm CPT: The casket and the family of President
Ford are expected to arrive at Andrews Airforce Base at this time. We will go
on the air with the arrival and the ceremony that follows. At the conclusion
of the ceremony it is our plan to conclude coverage, as the motorcade will no
longer be visible, BUT THIS COULD CHANGE.
If we do go off the air, we will resume coverage at approximately 6:15pm
ET/3:15pm CPT once the casket pauses at the World War II memorial for a
ceremony with bagpippers and the boy scouts, afterwhich the casket continues on
to the Capitol and then on to the Rotunda for the State Funeral.
At the conclusion of our coverage, which is expected at 8:00pmET/5:00pm CPT, we
will provide stations with a 94-second station break at 7:58:26pm ET/4:58:26pm
CPT.

Saturday, 1/30/06:
NBC News Special Report will begin at 6:30 pm EST (18:30) anchored by Brian Williams, originating from Burbank, CA. Tom Brokaw will contribute from New York City and Tim Russert from Washington. This special report will carry the funeral at the U.S. Capitol. We anticipate the service will conclude before 19:45, and the Special Report will conclude by 20:00 EST, returning you to regular programming at that time.
Sunday, 12/31/06 No special report coverage. Body lying in state at Capitol.
Monday, 1/1/07 President Bush is expected to arrive at the Capitol to view the body at 2:55 pm EST. Possible brief special report at that time.
Tuesday, 1/2/07 Special Report will begin between 09:30 and 10:00 EST, anchored from Capitol Hill. This special report will conclude at the end of the service when the casket is taken away from the National Cathedral. We expect it will end by 12:15 EST.
