TV Guide Canada to become web-only

While it's sad to see the end of a publication that has existed for a long time, the writing has been on the wall for awhile. I don't use print TV listings at all anymore, not even from the newspaper. I use online listings or on-screen program guides (the latter usually being the most accurate). Print listings are just too unreliable.

Also, if TV Guide wanted to keep a Canadian edition, they needed to do it properly. Not everyone in Canada gets Toronto and Buffalo stations!

I thought they had one for the east, and one for the west.

A grim future for TV Guide

I'm wondering if this is a pre-cursor of what will happen with the US version of TV Guide. I don't think their drastic change last year has worked out that well.

Well, given that the US version falls under the ownership of Gemstar, chances are that it could happen even though they been using its TV Guide Channel and their website to promote their printed sibling.

In all honesty and fairness, *if* tv guide could change their name to inside tv or some other fancy name that hints that there are no more listings, but the articles are still there, would the magazine sell?
Or are there too many tv gossip magazines already?
(both canada and USA.)
My first response to that question *could* be that there's more than enough info online as is, but then I wonder if the demand is still there for something to read when you are away from your pc or laptop.
