TV Guide Channel Changes its Look Again

Not that anyone here cares, but The TV Guide Channel has changed its look again. Listings now have a dark gray background with white lettering. Channel name/number are in black with a grayish-white background. The 3 times for the listings have a red background with white numbers.

I don't care for it, but since my mom and I can't afford digital cable or cable internet (to get up-to-the minute listings from TV.YAHOO.COM), we'll put up with it.

While I don't like it, it is better than that awful yellow and red look they had when TV Guide first bought the Prevue Chanel. I prefered the blue color scheme, which they were using up until yesterday.

I have digital cable so I don't need it, but here's my thoughts:

1. The new look is kinda bland but its easier to read.
2. They need to push the listings back up. People tune into TVGC for listings right? Takes longer with it squeezed down so low. I remember how annoyed I was when EPG (Electric Program Guide) became Preview Channel in 1992-1993.

For the record:

Early days of Prevue from September 1992:

Prevue/TV Guide Channel's look from 1993-2000 from April 1993:

Current look:

Which looks best? The current look is easiest to read but the position is too shoved down.
______________

Ever since they started airing more informercial-based programming and not just the split-screen :30 and :60 spots the network feed was pitching to the locally-stationed computer running the graphics, they've moved it further and further down so the emphasis is on what they're pitching or selling. Yeah, it's annoying. That and they gave Joan Rivers television airtime. Annoying!

TV Guide Is Tabloid Trash

Sorry, but TVGuide has become solid tabloid trash and I wouldn't allow it in my house. Canceled my subscription.

Excuse me, but this thread is about the TV Guide Channel and your comment is off-topic.
______________

Interestingly enough, this change was noticed quickly by my wife - who would definitely be classified as an "average" viewer. Oddly enough, without a prompt from me, she commented that it looks awful and that she hates the new colors. Aesteticly, they look like crap to me too.

And, as discussed below by Jeremy and Byron, the "content" that they are trying to pitch needs to be squeezed out by the listings and not the other way around. That channel has become so annoying to listen to that I frequently find myself reaching for the mute button when perusing listings. Which takes longer thanks to only getting 1/3rd of the screen.

In all, TVGC is going in the same direction as its namesake on the newsstand - into the crapper!
