TV GUIDE EDITIONS (OVER THE YEARS)

Stumbled upon this retro website. MATT has assembled a history of the various regional
TV Guide magazines (over the years) and lists various dates with the stations included
at that particular time. Here's how he tells it..............

This page contains a historical look at the channels listed in the different geographic editions of TV Guide magazine that have been printed in the US and Canada. I have alphabetized the list mainly by the geographic unit in the edition name (e.g., South Georgia is under G), or by the cable company when the edition contains its name (e.g., Adelphia Shenandoah is under A). Click a letter or range of letters at left to go directly to all editions beginning with those letters.

I used to talk to Matt on the phone when we were in the same DX club. I think that he is in Nebraska now.

Wikipedia, FWIW, has a page that lists which year a certain edition made its debut. I'd sure like to see the earliest South Florida Editions. Never see 'em on eBay. Also, I'm unsure how exact that Wiki list is.

i miss the old type of tv guide.

the tv guides that had the listings of the tv stations for 24 hours , every single day that week were very helpful.the ones geared specifically to an area it was sold in.

the new listings being general , not localized , and filled with articles that are for the most part not very interesting do not do the job.the great job tv guide die back in the day.

His site is very interesting. I don't think he has updated it in awhile though. I liked
going back to the 50's and 60's and seeing stations the large cities (NY, San Francisco,
LA, Dallas, etc.) had back then. He has a lot of old logos on there too.

While his site is very interesting, my only hangup is not using anything that would resemble the numbered "bullets" in the listings, especially if TVG lists more than one station with the same channel number. For example, in Adelphia Ohio, there's nothing distinguishing WTVG Toledo from WZZM Grand Rapids.
