TV Guide editions

I noticed that TV Guide had an Alaska edition off and on through the years -- but doesn't have one currently. Why? It's the only state without a TV Guide edition -- what's the deal?

My guess would be low circulation. It's probably not profitable for them.

Apparently, the Alaska TVG folded after only about a year, mainly due to low circulation. Don't know why TVG didn't start an Alaska edition earlier (Hawaii had their own TVG edition since around 1968), but apparently, more Alaska viewers preferred the TV magazine in their paper (or TVG's equivalent at the checkout, if one existed). As a result, TVG came into Alaska a little too late to compete with papers.

They should have tried their "boffo" renewal
marketing plan at the supermarket checkstand--
buy a TV Guide, get a free sports bag!
