TV Guide: Sleuth To Be Re-Named

Some executives used their purview
To rechristen their network as Cloo

With the spelling abused
Left their patrons confused

On the programming's theme and milieu

At least if they spelled the word "clue" correctly it might make it look a little better.

Apparently they chose to spell it "Cloo" for if they spelled it correctly, Hasbro would've filed a lawsuit for trademark infringement. (Remember when Spike TV was launched and it was delayed because Spike Lee had an issue with the name?)

It makes you wish that there was an actual board game called "Sci Fi" to justify NBCU's decision to tweak the name of SciFi Channel to SyFy...

You need to be a Sleuth to have a Cloo where to find it on many systems – and at least here, it's not available at all.

I won't get too righteously upset by this news as I don't have said channel on my cable, and I may have seen only 20 minutes of it by chance at someone else's house.

What I don't understand is the need to have the channel's name trademarked. Is NBCUniversal really afraid that Viacom or Time Warner are going to launch competing 'Sleuth' channels? For that matter, why couldn't it exist as 'NBCUniversal Sleuth Channel' as its official/legal name (if not necessarily its on-air name)? The rebranding just blows up all of the previous efforts at creating awareness for the channel, doesn't it?

Doesn't NBC Universial also own the network Chiller? Came across that channel the other day was airing the Reply's Believe It or Not reruns which TBS used to air I remember.
