One awful thing that TV Land did over and over was to go thru a huge promotion about some program that would now be "at home" there. There would be a huge build-up, a primetime marathon to introduce whatever show it was, and then it would disappear into the late nite/early,early morning schedule. Or better yet, there would be no real rhyme or reason as to where the show would be placed. 10pm on Monday night, but 3am on Wednesday followed by 2pm on Thursday, etc, etc.

Like the "Daniel Boone" promotion a few years back? I can't believe they ever showed the complete season. It seemed like nothing than a few showings to promote the DVD sales.

Everybody is griping, My Parents are griping. My Gripe is that the channels that have the potential to hold more actually hold back.

For instance, the only time I hardly ever watch USA Network is for WWE, Monk, or Psych. Other than that they limit themselves to First Run Movies, or

"slightly" older episodes of current tv shows like House, and the tag team of L & O spinoffs. There was a time when USA aired cartoons in the morning,

game shows in the afternoon, movies at night. It seemed simple when they're weren't as many channels as they are now. Unfortunately, that plays

a role with everything else. I wonder sometimes if more is good. I wonder if we really need 70 ESPN channels to get our sports with.

As for classic TV, there are DVD BOX SETS of TV shows. They are a nice alternative to cable tv. It's just trying to find the right store or online dealership

for the DVD set you want can be a hassle sometimes. But if there was a DVD set of the first season of Father Knows Best that just

came out, I'm sure that by the end of the next decade, nearly 80% of all tv shows of the last 60 years will be made available to DVD at some time.

My Parents have already bought their share of DVD sets of the shows they want to see (Gunsmoke, Rawhide, The Rockford Files, Kojak, The Equalizer, etc.).

So, if we live in the era of choice, you have a choice. I made mine, No TV Land ;D

The HD reruns of Star Trek: The Original Series comes to mind.

I believe that Viacom owns the distribution rights on MASH. Since Viacom also owns TV Land, it would seem that it would probably continue there in some fashion depending on just how badly they destroy TV Land's programming.

It's been years since producers, distributors, and networks tried to keep their products in house. Both News Corp and CBS/Viacom in particular sell their products to competing networks all the time - even first run network shows. I'm not sure who owns the Hallmark Channel, but Viacom will be happy to sell MASH to Hallmark.

For example, I've noticed that Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune are now distributed by CBS...I guess they bought King World. Where I live, they run on the local ABC O&O. It will be interesting to see if those two shows start migrating to CBS O&Os or affiliates as the current contracts run out.

M*A*S*H is owned by 20th Century Fox.

From what I can tell for now, MASH is still on both TV Land and Hallmark. Is there some sort of agreement to the times of day that each network can show it? On ION and Hallmark it is always in the afternoon, and on TV Land it's at night.

Im Gunna Miss my MASH and Sanford and Son

I really stopped watching MASH on TV when they started coming out with the season sets. I have the entire series to watch, unedited and commercial free, at my leisure.

Growing up, Nick at Nite and TV Land were required viewing in my house....I used to leave my TV on TV Land all night while I slept....I eventually started leaving it on Cartoon Network at night. Neither channel is worth watching anymore.

As of last night, MASH was operating on ION, Hallmark & TVLand. ION from 4p-5p, Hallmark from 5p-7p and TVLand at 10pm. The problem is that ION & Hallmark are only 2 episodes apart. Since ION airs 1 hour, and Hallmark airs 2 hours, what you see on ION at 4pm, shows up on
Hallmark in the 6pm hour. With TVLand, they don't seem to follow any sort of chronological order, so you can see an early episode and a very late one all in the same cluster.

Although I stand by the "changing of the guard" tv land
(sorry) but, it is only one show / for now - and, while I
give the hats-off to tv-land, trying to stay upbeat,
i agree, thats not THE VISION or FOCUS of "TvLAND"

and this topic, has had a healthy amount of 'going back
and forth' / the pure-ists(?sp) want TV Land, as is -
while, most likely YOUNGer 'folks' agree, while preserving
the golden era of tv - can attempt to attract new audiences...

WELL, I finally broke down, and thought "what the #@&!*% is this?!"
...not on tv-Land, but along the lines, of 'change for the better....'
give my post, 'at the movies' (in this forum) and tell me what you think!?
