TV Land Gets Part Time Rights to MASH

At long last, a decision by TV Land programmers that makes sense. Now if TVL people don't schlock it up with a bunch of nonsense promotions a la Hansel and Grettle or playing the M*A*S*H theme with compressed hands. (At least they didn't do it on some other show themes using arm pits.)

I just answered my own question about TV Land showing the final episode which they are.

Maybe TV Land willgain rights to the spinoff AfterM*A*S*H as well.

"After MASH" affirmed "you can't go home again." Despite the unqualified success of M*A*S*H, After MASH just didn't prove attractive at all to the audience. Viewers kept waiting for the magic of the original to surface in the sequel and it just didn't.

You may be right, though, that TVL could try for a tendem revival of M*A*S*H and AM. Then again................

I still don't get the idea of "sharing" rights. Why not run unique programming on each cable channel.

After M*A*S*H was bad because it starred two second tier character (Col Potter and Klinger, who lets face it ceased to be funny once he took over for Radar and stopped cross-dressing) and a third tier character the reverend whatever his name was.

I see also in the article they mention "and other M*A*S*H themed programming".

I am wondering if they are going to start showing Trapper John M.D.(which,according to Wikipedia, was a spinoff to the movie, not the TV show) since they are talking about other M*A*S*H themed programming.

I would LOVE to see that come back on-air. I thought it was a pretty good show considering it's vintage look by today's hospital dramas. I wouldn't mind seeing Wayne Rogers playing doctor on the "House Calls" series as well, although I liked him more in the M*A*S*H series.
