TV Listings That Still Refer To "WTBS"

It's been quite awhile since TBS left their Atlanta nest and their "Superstation" identity, becoming a full-blown cable network, with the new "Peachtree TV" filling the void in Atlanta. As such, TBS is no longer known as WTBS.

Yet, over the weekend, I was surprised to open up the Middletown, NY "Times-Herald Record" newspaper, and see listings for "WTBS" in their primetime grid. Apparently, they did not get the memo that "WTBS" no longer exists. (In fact, I don't think they even promoted themselves often by their call letters for the better half of their time as a "Superstation".)

Any other newspapers out there that still list TV listings for "WTBS"?

just another example of why newpapers are a dinosaur, buggy-whip industry

In my market, Titan tv still has Conan O'Brien as host of the Tonight Show in their on-line listings. (But, I think that is the fault of the local NBC affiliate who has not reported the change, not sure how that works).

Not really. Cable companies do it too - in their TV Guide and HD listings. In the Bay Area, Comcast listed KNTV as "NBC-3" for months after they re-branded as "NBC-11." I finally got sick of it, and emailed them. To my surprise, they sent a nice email back to me thanking me for informing them. Apparently, it never occurred to KNTV to let them know, and nobody on staff at Comcast had noticed. It was changed the next day.

When KNTV later re-branded a second time as "NBC Bay Area," it was changed right away.

You won't believe the amount of cable listings that still refer to TBS as (WTBS, Channel 17, Independent, Atlanta) or WGN America as a WB affiliate from Chicago. It's absurd, even though it's been generations since TBS gave up on their claim for a universal channel 17 on all cable systems to join TNT in the same tier.

Then there are also those listings that pretty much treat MyNetworkTV as an absurd joke and list those stations as "Independent" or if they're a subchannel, don't list what it's a subchannel of. My MyNet affiliate was still listed as a UPN affiliate until last year, even.

Echoing Mediafrog's sentiments above, at least we don't have media outlets referring to stations as "DuMont" affiliates. ::)

I don't think anybody refer to Spike TV as "The Nashville Network" either. (I wish there were reruns of Top Card floating around)

In my newspaper their is a section for adresses that lists the fox family channel, the nashville network, and KBHK the local UPN affilate plus KBWB the local WB affilate
