This week, LIN Television head honcho Vince Sadusky has swung the axe company-wide, getting rid of each station's business office (all business office duties will be "hubbed" at LIN's corporate offices in Providence, RI), eliminating other positions, and so forth. WOTV in Battle Creek is no different. WOOD Battle Creek bureau reporter Gerry Barnaby is one of those victims, along with two other people.

This is LIN's way of saying Merry Christmas. ::) Vince Sadusky used to be the CFO (aka Chief Bean Counter). When LIN found a way to get rid of Gary Chapman, they promoted Sadusky to CEO. Chapman and Paul Karopwicz (the current CEO of Meredith) are broadcasters. Sadusky is nothing but a bean counter.

Note: I posted this here, because there is no Michigan television board. I have not broken any rules. I haven't harrassed or stalked anyone. I am providing useful information for those in the Battle Creek area, who may be viewers of WOOD/WOTV.

Note #2: I originally posted this on the Michigan radio board, but Managing Editor moved it over here for whatever reason. I wrote my first "note" in a way that it was geared for Michigan folks, and not on a National level.

It always goes in a board for that particular medium. No local board, put it in the national board. Don't like that, deal.

Your title makes it seems like LIN closed the station when they only closed the office. Which would seem realistic, as that market already has another ABC station that only covers the north because of some coverage rigamarole that might end at the DTV transition at which point WOTV should probably become a CW station.
