TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

Cancelled is cancelled. You can dress it up any way you want.

Unless the show chooses to go out on its own terms like the Big Bang Theory and Modern Family. Which is rare.

I was surprised that Katy Keene was canceled after one season as The CW never cancels any shows hardly. Lucy Hale has had 3 shows canceled by The CW as Privilege which was only one season in 2008-09 TV season.

Hasan Minhaj’s Netflix weekly talk show “Patriot Act” won’t return for a seventh season, the comedian announced on Tuesday.

“What a run,” Minhaj wrote on Twitter. “‘Patriot Act’ has come to an end. I got to work with the best writers, producers, researchers, and animators in the game. My 2 babies were born and grew up with the show. TY to @netflix and everyone who watched. Now it’s time to return these screens to Best Buy.”
“Patriot Act” aired for 39 episodes across six seasons on Netflix and covered timely and topical political and cultural moments. Recent episodes covered the coronavirus crisis, George Floyd’s death at the hands of police officers, the upcoming election and the price of attending college. During its run between October 2018 and June 2020, it was widely praised and won an Emmy and Peabody Award. The final season was postponed due to the pandemic and aired on the streaming service in June. The entire show will continue to be available on Netflix.

Well, "Filthy Rich" is terrible. It has never lived up to how good the pilot episode was.

Filthy Rich sounded absolutely awful simply from the show descriptions and previews, which is why I avoided it. I have watched NEXT and found it interesting (and my wife found it terrifying.) Despite what the article says, only two episodes have aired. I suspect going a month between airings wasn't going to help ratings--a presidential debate, two World Series games and Election Day kept it off the Tuesday schedule until November 10. At least Fox will air the remaining episodes, rather than making it disappear after only two airings (anyone remember Lone Star ?)

Fresh product, no matter how unappealing, is going to be aired in this COVID-hampered year because there's not enough out there. Suspect CBS dusted off the last season of The Amazing Race for this fall rather than leave it on the shelf for that very reason. ( I've been a long time viewer, but I think Amazing Race fell out of favor with the network in the last few years)

I liked Filthy Rich was a pretty good show. Spectrum canceled LA's Finest after 2 seasons which was also a good show I hope that Fox will air season 2 and renew it for a season 3.

After nearly 2 years since taping. I bet the winner(s) of the million dollars, who we'll find out several weeks from now, have been waiting long enough for air so they can get their lump sum. That's a long time to wait.

And speaking of a particular show, exactly WHY did Fox refuse to run Beat Shazam this summer? They taped season 4 in late February/very early March right before the panic buying and shutdowns began. Full audiences too. Instead they ran MasterChef and 911 reruns into the ground. There was no reason why they couldn't have burned it off in the normal summer timeslot when most were still home in the wake of Covid. They did run some season 3 reruns on Saturday nights, but no sign of it anywhere this fall, yet I Can See Your Voice gets the full run aired...are they waiting until summer 2021 for some reason to air Jamie and Corinne?

They actually didn't do that, they delayed it a couple times and now are finally showing it. If I remember right, it was supposed to be seen in-between the previous two Survivor seasons, then was delayed to the summer, then delayed to this fall. So it wasn't "dusted off rather than be left on the shelf", it is finally being shown after being scheduled and delayed twice.

I know some people didn't like A&E when they carried shows like Duck Dynasty and Storage Wars, but since they've gone to more shows like Live PD they've lost me as a viewer, and this was even before recent events.

Remember what A&E stands for? They lost me after that change.
