TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

Girl Meets World Cancelled? The Show Has 'Ended,' Says Rider Strong

Mum’s the word on any official Girl Meets World cancellation, but Boy Meets World‘s Rider Strong isn’t easing fans’ concerns, suggesting on his podcast that the Disney Channel spinoff has come to an end.

In the latest episode of “Literary Disco”, Strong — who reprised his role as Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter in the TGIF follow-up — says the series has “ended” following production on Season 3.

“We finished the third season of Girl Meets World — my brother and I were directing a lot of episodes and I acted in a couple — and the show ended,” Strong said.

Disney Channel’s ‘Girl Meets World’ Canceled

A week after cast member Rider Strong said as much on his podcast, Disney has announced that Girl Meets World has been canceled. The sequel series to the earlier Boy Meets World will end with the conclusion of its third season.

“Disney Channel will present the series finale of “Girl Meets World” on FRIDAY, JANUARY 20 (6:00 p.m. EST). In the episode, “Girl Meets Goodbye,” the Matthews family contemplates a life-changing decision,” the network said in a statement. “We are proud that for over 70 episodes, Michael Jacobs, April Kelly and the talented creative team, cast and crew entertained viewers with an authentic and heartfelt look at navigating adolescence.”

The series finale, “Girl Meets Goodbye”, will also showcase a big Boy Meets World reunion with Strong, Ben Savage, William Daniels, Will Friedle, Anthony Tyler Quinn, Lee Norris, Danny McNulty, William Russ, and Betsy Randle all appearing.

ESPN Cancels The Sports Reporters

ESPN has canceled the Sunday morning show, The Sports Reporters, after nearly 30 years on the air, reports Sports Illustrated.

The publication writes that the show, which features a panel of journalists debating topical sports issues, is expected to end in May. An ESPN spokesperson declined to comment on the report, SI adds.

The SI article did not give a reason for the cancellation, but said The Sports Reporters will be replaced in its Sunday morning time slot (9:30 a.m. ET) by an hour-long version of E:60, the network’s sports magazine show.

Is CBS cancelling "The Great Indoors"? , I see "Superior Donuts" taking their time slot.

Surprised that ESPN is cancelling a show that has endured as long as 'Sports Reporters'. I guess all things change and when Saunders passed away it became difficult to find someone who could fill those shoes.

I hope so. The Great Indoors isn't funny whatsoever.
A show with the name of "Superior Donuts" won't last three episodes before it's cancelled. Seriously? SUPERIOR?! DONUTS?!!! Has CBS run out of ideas for new comedies?

The numbers are great. But after "Big Bang Theory" I suppose reading the phone book would do well.

I have a season pass for "Donuts", but I have to admit I haven't watched "Indoors" since the pilot even though I have a bunch of episodes piled up. Joel McHale would be the main reason.

Remember back in the 1990s, NBC cancelled shows that were top 20 just because they lost a lot of viewers from their (very successful) lead-ins

another ESPN show that has been canceled, the show that has been canceled is His & Hers (formerly known as Numbers Never Lie) which aired on ESPN2 , the reason for the show's cancellation, the show's co-host Michael Smith and Jemele Hill have been promoted to co-host the 6 PM ET/5 PM CT/4 PM MT/3 PM PT (and Arizona MST during daylight savings time) hour of SportsCenter which will be rebranded as SC6 (which will stand for SportsCenter at 6).

His & Hers ended it's run on Jan 6, while the announcement of Smith and Hill's promotion happened back in October.

SC6 debuts the day after Super Bowl 51.

What's gonna happen to all the original programming that Esquire runs when they pull the plug this summer? Friday Night Tykes and Team Ninja Warrior are too good to get killed off along with the network...

i bet they get moved over to another NBCUniversal network. all things Ninja Warrior should be moved to USA or NBCSN while Friday Night Tykes will either be moved to E!, USA or NBCSN.

'The Insider' to End Its Run After This Season

CBS Television Distribution’s The Insider will end its run after this season, the company told staffers on Tuesday morning.

The show, which routinely is among the lowest-rated entertainment magazines, is averaging a 1.1 in households season to date through Jan. 22, according to Nielsen Media Research. It ranks ahead of only Twentieth’s Dish Nation and Trifecta’s Celebrity Page.

not to mention it airs at 2 PM CT here in Dallas on WFAA. that show has been stuggling for years due many reasons, it was created as a spin off of Entertainment Tonight in the mid 2000s as before September 2004, The Insider was pretty much a segment on ET devoted to gossip, but at the time, i guess Viacom (pre CBS/Viacom split) wanted ET to retain it's iconic image and not become another gossip type entertainment news show so boom, The Insider was created.

fast forward to years later, there's too many entertainment news shows with Access Hollywood & Access Hollywood Live (which i'm surprise hasn't been canceled and merged with E! News yet due to the NBC Universal/Comcast merger which bought Comcast's E! into the fold with NBCU's Access Hollywood.), Extra, E! News, Celebrity Page (formerly OK TV), TMZ TV & TMZ Live and the sports version of TMZ which is called TMZ Sports on FS1, and several other shows. point is, there's to many entertainment news & gossip shows on TV and it seems they target middle age women as their target demos.

these days it's easier to get your entertainment news online cause you get it as soon as you can instead of having to wait to see the Entertainment news shows to see what's going on in Hollywood
