TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

Oooh, I'm batting a thousand again!
I really enjoyed Grand Hotel, Bluff City Law (Mom likes that show too) and Sunnyside.
On the other hand, I thought Carol's Second Act and Bob Loves Abishola were just okay and watched only a few episodes, and I hated Schooled, Evil (gave me the creeps) and The Unicorn, but they are doing well. I'm just relieved that one new show I love is surviving so far, and that is Perfect Harmony.

Haven't watched a lot of TV, actually, this season. Bob Hearts Abishola is OK, a few jokes, but nothing extremely funny (ala Big Bang, Two and a Half Men). Mom is of course solid.

I'm still watching "Sunnyside". Those spoiled Asians are actually showing they're more than just stereotypes. The sister actually revealed she is concerned about someday running out of money and is trying to be careful to save part of what she has. The brother wasn't as upset as I thought he'd be when he believed their parents had cut them off. I still like the jokes about how they don't seem to understand how the rest of the world lives and can't stand not to have everything they want, when they want it, but now I know they're not as bad as they seem.

Sony Pictures Television will not bring back rookie talk show, The Mel Robbins Show, for a second season, the company confirmed Tuesday. The show will stay in original production through this year as planned and then go off the air once the season concludes in early September.

The show has averaged a 0.4 live plus same day household rating season to date, according to Nielsen Media Research. It did recently get upgrades in a few Nexstar markets, including Nexstar’s KTLA Los Angeles from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m., but that seems to have been too little too late.

Not surprised. Didn't get cleared on a lot of stations and for those that did, the ratings and timeslots weren't great either. Tamron may return however.

Oh they already renewed her for Season 2.

That's odd. In the Scr/W-B market, our ABC station WNEP swapped slots for both Mel Robbins and Ellen. Ellen moved to 3PM while Mel Robbins went to 10AM, after Kelly and Ryan. But it was too little, too late

Moving Mel Robbins to the 10AM hour right after a popular morning show does not improve its ratings, either.

I wasn't surprised that Mel Robbins was one & done and isn't returning for a season 2 it had a double run on WXMI Fox17 at 10AM & 2AM. I didn't watch the show I wasn't interested in it.

It is. It’s not easy to break through, and success
needs to be measured as it applies to today’s world, not just one limited metric.

I was just reading online that Kelly Clarkson's talk show is a big hit, and one of the few talk shows that have done well lately. I have not seen it, but will have to check it out. Aside from being a talented singer, I have seen her interviewed, and once as a "judge" on one of those singing competition shows, and I find her to be a very engaging person. Seems like a nice person, too.

Netflix cancels a show

Netflix has canceled the figure skating drama “Spinning Out” after just one season, Variety has confirmed.

The news comes just over a month after the show premiered on Jan 1. The 10-episode series follows Kat Baker (Kaya Scodelario), a talented, up-and-coming elite figure skater who’s ready to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track. However, when she’s presented a second chance as a pair skater, she seizes the opportunity to continue her career and pairs up with talent pair skater and resident bad boy Justin (Evan Roderick).

The cast also included January Jones, Willow Shields, Amanda Zhou, Will Kemp, Svetlana Efremova, Mitchell Edwards, Sarah Wright Olsen, David James Elliott, Johnny Weir, Kaitlyn Leeb, and Jonathan Van Ness. Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Samantha Stratton, and Lara Olsen served as executive producers. Stratton and Olsen served as co-showrunners.
