TV SHOW FOR BILL O?

Found this past mention of Bill O on the Buffalo News website today:

Radio talk show host Bill O'Laughlin's stock is rising. Heard on WECK 1230 AM from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday since 2009, the longtime financial adviser is getting an extra hour -- through noon -- starting today. He's also in discussions about doing a TV talk show about money.

To be honest, I don't hear a ton of Bill but I know it's going to be much like his radio show w/o the radio studio. The rest I'm not sure about as we don't talk at-length since I no longer produce him and my show starts five minutes after his. I'm sure he'll announce soon. Now if that guy who's getting rid of his set will give it to me!

Is this the same Bill O'Laughlin who was a regular guest on Ch. 7's morning news some years back? Seemed like a nice enough guy and was rather relaxed on the air. IIRC in his last days on that show, there was a contest between Bill and a monkey from the Buffalo Zoo. They both picked a number of stocks and, over a period of time, tracked their performances. The monkey won by a good margin. Maybe if Bill gets his own show, he'll have the monkey on as a guest analyst...

"Maybe if Bill gets his own show, he'll have the monkey on as a guest analyst..."

Not gonna happen, the monkey's already on CNBC. ;-)

Bill said this morning the show is going to air on Sundays on WGRZ-TV.

How much is he paying for the time?

Bill O's show today is a repeat?

What the heck is going on? One of the biggest FINANCIAL news stories to hit WNY in years today with the HSBC Bank reorganization/restructuring announced this morning had me actually totally focused on choosing Bill O over Bauerle this morning but when I tuned it Bill was babbling on about shaking John Boehner's hand "yesterday."

Boehner was in town on Monday.

Maybe Bill O is sick or it was a scheduled day off, but what's up with a repeat?

"The Best of Bill O" on a day when financial talk (his expertise) and political news (his passion) are hot topics is NOT what people want to hear. If he can't make it into the studio, why isn't someone else filling in?

Hometown radio is great when it is live and local. As far as I can tell, Bill O's broadcast is a rerun. That just doesn't make any sense.

Bill O's TV show is simply awful. I hope he's not spending too much of his retirement money on that disaster.

From Alan Pergament's blog today. Whoda thunk it?:

Talk show host Bill O’ Loughlin signed a Channel 2 contract Friday that allows the NBC affiliate to carry “The Bill O’Loughlin Show” from noon to 1 p.m. weekdays starting on Sept. 6, the day after Labor Day.
The six-week O’Loughlin experiment at 11:30 p.m. Sundays proved to be a success during the July sweeps, averaging a healthy 3.2 rating and getting about 20,000 viewers.

I demand an investigation.

Heh, heh. Apparently a lot of people fell asleep with their TVs on during the 11 o'clock news.
