Another example out of the game-show world: in the '50s
there was a show called "Place The Face," in which contestants
had to identify people from their pasts (Ralph Edwards, who seemed
fascinated with the concept, given that he did "This Is Your Life"
and frequently staged reunions on "Truth Or Consequences," produced this show).
The first host was Smilin' Jack Smith (of "You Asked For It" fame) and the announcer
was Jack Narz. Edwards didn't want two Jacks on the same show, so
he asked Narz if he minded being called "Johnny" Narz (his real name was
John, anyway). OK by me, said Narz, as long as you're paying me. When Bill
Cullen (Narz's brother-in-law) replaced Smith, Narz went back to being
called "Jack," and "Jack" it was for the rest of his days.
