TV Shows Where Two Characters Have The Same First Name

I was watching "Burns and Allen" on AntennaTV and the have to characters Harry VonZell and Harry Morton. Both having the first name of Harry.

Of course "Newhart" had the two Darryls.

What other shows have had two major players have the same first name AT the same time?

Only thing that comes to my mind is Andy Griffith (Andy) and Elinor (Ellie) Donahue in the 1961 version of the Andy Griffith Show.

I believe that "Ellie" is a nickname for Eleanor if I'm not mistaken. Does that count ???

The Simpsons does technically have two Homers. Homer Simpson and Homer Glumplich (hyuck-hyuck!).

The Itchy and Scratchy Land episode showed several people named Bort. "We have run out of BORT license plates, repeat, we have run out of BORT license plates!)

Aside from that, The Simpsons has few, if any duplicate first names.

Not precisely the same first name but certainly soundalike names:
Holly (Maureen Garrett) and Harley (Beth Ehlers) on "Guiding Light."
Interestingly, at one time on that show there was a character named
Maureen (Bauer, played first by Ellen Dolan, then by Ellen Parker) and
an actress named Maureen (the aforementioned Ms. Garrett).

One I can think of:
John Abbott
John Silva
on The Young & the Restless a few years ago.

Days of Our Lives was another:
Shawn Brady (late in the character's life he was referred to as 'Grandpa Shawn')
Shawn-Douglas Brady (for a while, during adolescence and maybe a little after, he was referred to as 'Shawn-D')

Dallas (original show as well as the new TNT one):
J.R. (short for 'John Ross', but most anyone on the show referred to him using the initials)
John Ross

Most soaps, especially the long-running ones, have had multiple characters over the years with the same first name but they've been on at different times with hardly any overlap.

I know this is stretching it a bit, but on the one-hour The Skatebirds (and later on the half-hour Three Robonic Stooges) there were two Larrys. There was Larry from the "Robonic Stooges" segment and there was Larry from the "Woofer And Wimper, Dog Detectives" segment.

I Love Lucy-Ricky Ricardo and Little Ricky.

The Cleveland Show-Cleveland Brown and Cleveland Brown Jr.

WKRP- Arthur J Carlson and Arthur Jr.

If you're counting Juniors then how about Bud (Al Jr.) from Married With Children, Junior (Chester Jr.) from Life Of Riley, & Bud (Jim Jr.) from Faher Knows best?

There was the episode of Beverly Hills 90210 in which one-hit wonder Donna Lewis appeared at the Peach Pit After Dark. Tori Spelling (as Donna Martin) was already on the show, so you had a character whose name (on the show) was Donna, and a "real" Donna, appearing as herself.

Not two characters but two real people with similar names:
On the original Bill Cullen version of "The Price is Right," Don
Pardo was the announcer and Don Morrow did some of the
live commercials. The two Dons took a lot of ribbing about
the similarity of their names, and since both are still with us,
they could probably tell some good stories about it.

Another example from Beverly Hills 90210: when Brenda went to the University of Minnesota (briefly, in the season that it appeared that she would be written out of the show, although that didn't actually occur until the following season), her roommate's boyfriend was named Dylan. Of course, that was intentional, to make her miss her own (former) boyfriend Dylan back in 90210.

Another example out of the game-show world: in the '50s
there was a show called "Place The Face," in which contestants
had to identify people from their pasts (Ralph Edwards, who seemed
fascinated with the concept, given that he did "This Is Your Life"
and frequently staged reunions on "Truth Or Consequences," produced this show).
The first host was Smilin' Jack Smith (of "You Asked For It" fame) and the announcer
was Jack Narz. Edwards didn't want two Jacks on the same show, so
he asked Narz if he minded being called "Johnny" Narz (his real name was
John, anyway). OK by me, said Narz, as long as you're paying me. When Bill
Cullen (Narz's brother-in-law) replaced Smith, Narz went back to being
called "Jack," and "Jack" it was for the rest of his days.

That explains why Bill used to visit Louisville fairly often, when I met him as a 10-year old at WAVE-TV, the longtime Louisville NBC affiliate, in 1964. Jim Narz (AKA Tom Kennedy)and brother Jack are proud natives of the Derby City.

What was your impression of Bill? Did he seem as easygoing as he did on camera?

I remember as our 5th grade field trip came into the studio, he was cracking jokes with the crew, and even as a 10 year-old, I noticed how at-ease he was. He acknolwledged us all with a hello, then went to do his promo bit for the local station and appear on the local "Morning Show," which followed "Today" in Louisville. Even with the built up shoe on his (I believe) right foot, he had only a very slight limp.

Back then, even if travelling on personal business, network stars routinely stopped by affiliates for live or recorded promotional appearances. Now, it's all done via satellite. I don't know if Bill was between shows at the time, or if he was promoting his hosting of one...this was April '64. Anybody know?
