TV Station Mascots

Woah I never knew KRON San Francisco had another Mascot. I always thought it was “Buster and Me” was KRON’s mascot at one time.

For KTVU San Francisco at one point Charlie and Humphrey were that stations mascot in the 1970’s to 1980’s.

In Jacksonville, FL, WFGA TV (Now WTLV) has a dolphin named "Jaxie".

Here’s one for the example (I found the image on the Sponsor Magazine)

Beeper from Mr Cartoon was kinda-sorta a mascot for WSAZ Huntington WV. He didn't appear in the logo, but he was used in announcements of school closings and delays (this per Wikipedia, though with no citation, I'm just taking the writer's word for it).

And while it wasn't some kind of anthropomorphic "mascot", WSAZ also had a steamboat in its logo, the "Television Queen", in the early days, so I suppose one could think of it as a mascot of sorts. Its captain was George Lewis, "Steamboat Bill", who became Mr Cartoon. (Fun fact, I actually met Mr Lewis when he came to my elementary school in the mid-1960s.)

And in Grand Rapids, MI, WZZM Channel 13 had a cat with a hat and a bowtie. This mascot brought back for the 50th anniversary in 2012, and the 60th anniversary in 2022.

This would only be considered a "mascot" (mascots?) in the loosest sense of the word (or maybe not), but the "pioneer" thing made me think of WTVR Richmond VA and their old sign-on logo:

They were using this at sign-on as late as 1990. It was supposed to be a nod to WTVR being the "pioneer" TV station in the South.

I've always thought it looked kind of dark, almost creepy. For 1990, it had an incredibly dated look as well.

In Columbus, OH, WBNS TV Channel 10 had a CBS-styled TV humanoid mascot.
