TV STATIONS: COLUMBUS WEATHER

Chris Bradley is taking over his "Mike Davis" job WBNS in the late spring summer time frame. One thing i wish columbus tv market had was better radar systems. since channel 4 and 6 use NEXRAD SITES. ch 4 use to have first doppler which was their own live radar i wonder if they still use that ? i know doppler 4 is nexrad sites but wonder if its with or without their own live doppler rolling. when we have tornadoes in the area WBNS RADAR DOESNT show much of anything detailed on the storms. im thinking they need more power and maybe a bigger dish.> EX: Baron Service weather radar. is a great radar system. Oh well maybe one day it'll happen. Maybe chris bradley will make 10 weather center better. and crossing my fingers on new software or hardware into the doppler radar system there.
______________

Channel 6/28 gets all of their stuff from AccuWeather, which i'm sure gets it from the National Weather Service, but from watching them they get some pretty good details from them when there is severe weather. Channel 4 does have a radar southwest/west of Grove City in Madison County, and watching their weather reports when they show the radar you can see the radar sweep is focused from that site. Channel 10 has a radar in that general area too (just go to their website and click on the radar), but I agree it doesn't show the intensity like the others do. Doesn't Channel 10 have a radar on the roof of their station too?

Channel 10 has a Radar site at Bolton Field in South West Columbus. They may or not have radar on one of their towers or roof at their studios, I am not sure but I do know they have (or at least did) have a Radar site at Bolton Field (I remeber them touting about it when they got it years ago)

Channel 4 I think may or not have a Radar site out in London Ohio (near the London Airport, I think I remeber Gelber or Gahnal say something about it once, but dont hold me to that)

All 6s radars are now from Accuweather, Which uses NWS, Nexrad etc..

yeah i know 6 is from accuweather. i actually like channel 6 when it comes to weather and what was chris bradley. since ch 4 switched to doppler 4 which i think is a product of weather plus via nbc i dont think they use their live radar anymore. when looking at doppler 4 i do see rain around the whole usa which is probably a feed of NEXRAD national composite radar. i did read that channel 10 had 2 radars but i only seen one sweep with 9,000 watts. wlextv in lexington, ky has a live baron service doppler radar with 350,000 watts and a 14' foot dish. which is more like it. I know it takes money but wbns is suppose to be # 1 in columbus. if wlex can do it then wbns can.
______________
