(TV) UPN-30 DTV changes

- UPN-30 WUXP has launched "The Tube", a music-video channel, on their digital subchannel 30-2. - They also appear to have increased power - they used to be nearly impossible to receive up here in Pleasant View, since the weekend they're almost hard to lose!

I finally threw in the towel trying to receive HD out of the air, and I'm not as far out in suburbia. Only problem is, Comcast won't deliver all of the local HD channels (still missing 28) and only a total of two side channels (nashvillewx and npt2). So there's no must-carry when it comes to HD?

What part of suburbia, and what kinds of antenna have you tried?

I suspect they don't carry 28 because there is no HD on that station. (not on 39, 50, or 66 either) Cable is required to carry one program stream per DTV station. If I recall properly, the stream that carries the same program as the analog unless the station requests otherwise. There is still a move to require carriage of all of a DTV station's subchannels, at least on digital cable where it requires no more bandwidth than simply carrying the one main program.("no more bandwidth", assuming the cable system doesn't do additional compression. Which I understand they often do.)

I'm in Mt Juliet and HDTV is hit or miss over the air. Just waiting on Direct TV to get the local HD channels on their system. I swear when the wind blows, the signal drops.Nock

DirecTV already has the big four HD locals on their system, but you have to upgrade your dish and receiver to get them. I think it's free or close to it if you extend your contract. I get all the HD locals pretty well here in Hermitage, so I'm not upgrading anytime soon.

FYI, The locals in HD are not available yet on Direct TV. At least that what I thought I heard the broken english respond to me when I called and inquired.Nock
