TV38 to Air High School Football

TV38 (WSBK-TV) will air the Eastern Massachusetts high school football championship games December 1 (3:30p-9:30p). While I would assume local public access stations have aired the games in the past, has a regional outlet (CN8 maybe) aired these games or is this something entirely new?

I remember back in the seventies when the old CH. 50 (I believe it was WXPO) that was located in Lowell they would brodcast some Lowell high School games especially the Lowell Lawrence game on Thanksgiving.
Here in the Roanoke VA. every Friday night the old UPN now independent station carries a local High School Football game and it gets a great ratings in the Roanoke DMA.

Given that some of the games will be held at Gillette Stadium, don't see a problem with it...plenty of resources available in the press box to pull it off.

I'm amazed that a large station like WSBK would air a high school game. Why would anyone outside the two towns involved care? How can they possibly get any ratings with such a niche program?

Well, here in Connecticut, CPTV (Connecticut Public Television) plans to air all 6 Connecticut HS State Championship games - 2 live on Saturday, 4 on Sunday tape delay.
