TV38 web site up and running

Well, the first shoe has finally dropped, as WSBK's webiste, www.upn38.com now redirects to tv38.com, with 38 now planted in a circle, and all mentions of UPN gone.

So it's TV38 again, although I wish they'd bring back the original logo. And what happened to that plan for 38 to have a newscast produced by Channel 4? Looks like that one is off the table, at least for now?

I use to love TV38 back in the 80's when I first got cable. I don't know how much has changed in the past 10 years since I lost them when I moved to the dish but they were fairly decent back in the 80's and early 90's (at least from what I recall).

Are they dropping all network affiliations or are they picking up somebody like CW ?

In 1995, it became UPN38 and was fine until about 1999 or 2000. Then, all the classic shows and cartoons went, and talk shows and court shows came in. It started to get better in 2005 with re-instating news and Three Stooges episodes. Now that UPN is closing, WSBK decided not to affiliate with any affiliate. This could be great or it could be really bad. So far, I like the new design. It's not about the logo, it's the programming.

I swear that wasn't there before.

You knkow? I just realized, wasn't there a version of the original WSBK TV 38 logo, that had the 38 on top of the Bruins logo, used in promos for Bruins coverage? I think this logo is a throwback to that...

Or is my imagination getting fuzzy again?

What in the world does HD have to do with this conversation at all? I don't see a single reference to HD in this thread until now?

As long as this thread is for TV38, does anyone have any schedules for the fall for TV38? (Besides the highly advertised prime-time schedule. I'd love to see it. TV Guide.com doesn't go far enough.

10am- Judge Mathis
11am- The People's Court
12pm- Judge Mathis
1pm- Judge Maria Lopez
2pm- The People's Court
3pm- Judge Joe Brown
4pm- Still Standing
5pm- That '70s Show
6pm- The King of Queens
7pm- Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy!
8pm- Dr. Phil Primetime
9pm- Jeopardy! II/News

When they had UPN,especially Enterprise, there was HD programming in Primetime. Even the Friday night Sox games were in HD!

Now there's NOTHING! (except for maybe Jep and wheel)

Well the Court shows are great. I've been getting into them again lately. The only one Channel 38 seems to be missing is Judge Judy. I think she airs on WBZ.... but I'm not sure since I watch it out of Providence.

Jeopardy again at 9 PM seems strange. Is there News at 9:30? That whole 9 to 10 block as listed seems odd.

WSBK needs to return to having that 'local feel'. For many many years. They ran Three Stooges marathons during the holidays. Granted times have changed. But with this opportunity. WSBK, should understand how successful they were. Before UPN. And how many viewers. Both Locally & national enjoyed their programming.

Reality check....

Ok, time to revisit this again...
The reason that independent stations like WSBK and WLVI played cartoons and 3 Stooges films was not becuase they got ratings, BUT BECAUSE THEY WERE CHEAP. These were low budgeted, low staffed, non-affiliated stations. If you look at the events leading up to UPN and WB, notice how many times WLVI and WSBK were sold. It's all there on Wikipedia, and at Bostonradio.org, go look it up. Realize that what many of you are asking for, is a return to a less desirable era for these stations.

It's nostalglia, that's all. We'd all like to go back to our youth. But I bet if WSBK and WLVI were left in their original state today, we'd all be talking about how poorly run and watched these stations are.

Put another way, the good old days were not so good.

Just having TV38 keep playing The Three Stooges is good enough for me. If they throw in some classic shows in the mix of new ones, that would be even better.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on that one.
As, likely would the sales staffs and station managers of those stations from those years. I think you need to realize that just because you liked it doesn't mean it was well done. I loved watching Casper cartoons in 1983, but so did most children at that age. That doesn't mean that TV 38 was a good tv station by any stretch.

They better run the Stooges.. espically if they are in color. The court shows are the same old deal... Somebody violates somebody else and the judge insults them and calls them stupid and thats it. Whats wrong with re runs of game shows? GSN doesn't play everything that I remember. They got Jep and Wheel why not toss in a few others? Wouldn't kill them
