TVLAND Gripe

TVLAND runs The Nanny every Saturday and Sunday from 7AM-Noon. I don't understand why some of the episodes are the same on Saturday and Sunday (but not always at the same time). I also want to know why some of the same episodes are run week after week. But my biggest complaint (surprise it has nothing to do with them running off the clock) is the fact they don't show the episodes in order, unless it's a 2 part episode. An Example I saw recently: At 9:30AM they'll show an episode from after Fran and Max got married. Then at 10:30AM they'll show an episode from an earlier season where they're not even dating. It's crazy. And they do the out of order showings with Roseanne too.

Two of my biggest complains are TV Land screwing around with the airing of All in the Family and the Jeffersons. Instead of having the shows start on the hour, or half-hour, the programs start at :45 before the hour and end at :15 after. WTF is that all about?

Second is TV Land pushing their new show "Retired at 35." It seems every time I switch over to TV Land that show is on.

It's a good concept - failed stockbroker ends up moving to Florida with his folks... "Retired At 35"... Has it led me to actually turn on TV Land to check it out? No...

Actually they do that with all the original shows they air. Originals shows (which vary by the season) air new episodes Wednesdays at 10PM Eastern and then run the same episode 7 days a week.

Hot in Cleveland, High School Reunion, Retired at 35, whatever the name of that stupid show where they try to find a model over the age of 40, Harry Loves Lisa, etc, etc, etc.

They do show The Nanny over and over and over. Now Hot In Cleveland seems to be having
a marathon every other week. I've given up on Retired At 35. That concept would make for
one episode on another show, not an entire series.

It was the decline in quality of TV Bland (oops, TV Land) that made it so much easier for me to cut the cord. Why fight it when there are better alternatives for free and you don't have to put up with their second rate excuse for original programming?

I tend to agree. I hardly ever watch TV Land any more. In fact I am probably watching it
less now that at any other time before. TV Bland is a good name for it and is what it has
become.

I prefer sticking with the "TV Land" name... because once you find out what they're presenting on TV, you land somewhere else. :D

I think RTV and Antenna TV is better than TV LAND, and their shows do start at the top and the bottom of the hour.

Antenna TV is currently running 4 shows that are on TV land now, The Nanny, Married with...,All In The Family and Sanford and Son.

I guess I have a related complaint. Charter in Jackson, TN now has TV Land On Demand, but all they show are episodes of Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35. You'd think that they'd use it to show some of their classic shows as well, but as usual they're going to use it to push their new shows instead. I guess before long they'll be carrying High School Reunion and She's Got the Look (if those are returning) istead of any classic shows.

I wonder if there's a GSN "on-demand" channel that works the same way, in that you can't see classic "What's My Line," but help yourself to all the "Baggage" you want!

The new shows (like Hot in Cleveland), esp. the scripted ones, do provide new content on cable, the marketing of it is necessary, and it's probably a good direction for TV Land. I wish TV Land did schedule its classics better though, and without repeat programming.

I'm not too impressed with Antenna TV. Terrible commercials throughout, limited programming, duplicative programming to TV Land, TV One, etc. and programming that is a little too old (e.g. b&w Dennis the Menace) for even the niche audience that is interested in classic tv.

I'd like to see a little less Hot In Cleveland. It seems to be on almost daily now. They should air
some other shows every now and then. Hot In Cleveland is no I Love Lucy. We can stomach 50+ years of Lucy, Hot will not be as lucky.

I'd like to see Antenna TV, but Atlanta is one of the major markets without a sub for it. I think
they do have some shows that are unique to them though.
