Glad I put the DISH into my new house...

I'll gladly decorate the pole in the yard with dollar bills... That's all the $$$$ I'll be saving over TW and their constant rate hikes...

There are no plans to offer a straight a-la carte channel system. TW will only be offering the "family friendly" tier.

For the majority of customers, here is the new rate for basic + standard service:

Service Old Rate New Rate

Basic $8.40 $6.55
Standard $43.30 $48.20

Total $51.70 $54.75

(This assumes Rochester metro cable franchise area. Other areas may vary.)

Anyone not in a service bundle with a premium channel is going to pay more as well. TW is herding its customers into new service bundle packages and insulating them from a-la carte rate increases for specific services for non-bundled customers. The rate hike breakdown in the mail is a bit hard to spot because it looks like another circular for TW's All in One. Look for the piece sealed shot with a white sticky dot. That is your rate hike newsletter.

Most cable operators increase rates once a year.

But given the title of this thread, I wonder if this is the second time within a year that TW has raised rates.

Could twice-annual rate hikes be in the future for many cable systems??

Wasn't there was a period of a year or two in the Boston area when Comcast raised rates twice a year (about every six months)?? I think that series of hikes was part of a deal to convert the New England Sports Network (NESN) from a premium channel to expanded basic.

That's Not What Channel 10 Reported; IE-Time Warner Rate Increase

Eariler this year it was first reported that Time Warner was going to raise its rates; a story that the local TV stations carried.

Yet the next night on Channel 10 news Rich Funke quoted a press release from Time Warner stating that the cable company had no plans to increase its rates in the Rochester market this year. So if Funke's report was correct then TW reneged on its word.
