T'WAS 5 MONTHS BEFORE THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

I think we can assume Lite will be the only station to go all Christmas early in the game considering the direction Coast is going, can't we?

I don't know about Tesh but I doubt Seacrest is going to play nothing but Christmas music too early in the season. I haven't even listened to him. How much music does he play and can Coast pop in what they want or do they go with his music? Then again in five months Seacrest could get caught up in some scandal and lose his show and Coast could go through two morning shows and three PDs.

There is no way Seacrest will play all Christmas music. Tesh could get away with it. I think Delilah had two versions of her show around the holidays so Coast had the option of going with the Christmas or non-Christmas. Regardless of what Seacrest plays I think the programming decision will come from sales anyway and Coast gets so convoluted at times I wouldn't put it past them to go all Christmas until PM drive. If CC wants an all Christmas station they can even do it on B101. In Boston both WODS and WROR have done it which used to be considered unusual for oldies and classic hits formats. All Christmas was always confined to AC formats.

OH, COME ON! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?????

Are you KIDDING ME with talk about Christmas music....IN JULY????????

Are you really secretly all Star Trek fans, living in your parent's basement, and have NEVER KISSED A GIRL??

Get a life, will ya people??

For cryin' out loud...it's just a radio station.....
I mean, look at ya, look at the way you're dressed...
I mean...HOW OLD ARE YOU PEOPLE??
What have you done with yourselves??

There's a whole world out there...
When I was your age, I didn't listen to the radio...I LIVED!

Please, all of you, move out of your parent's basement...and get your own apartments...and GROW THE HELL UP!

I mean...it's just RADIO! Dammit...it's just RADIO!

Ummm. It's a valid topic. A station known for going all Christmas makes some major programming changes that don't jive too well with the concept of going all Christmas. Oh and WROR in Boston is playing Christmas music this weekend.

Unlike Delilah, the content for Seacrest & Tesh is their breaks only, not the music...so the station controls what music is played.

Thanks MrMike. Ignore Peter Pan/Hello Salty. He's angry again. It'll pass but not for too long.

It's amazing how passionate civilians and radio geeks are about this topic.

A few years ago, the morning man of a small AM station slipped in a couple of winter (not Christmas) songs during a long heat wave. You know, like "Winter Wonderland" or "Let it Snow". He thought it was funny, cute and not a bad idea when we were all sweltering.

He told me he had never gotten such a response. People were outraged that he'd play such music in July.

To me, it shows the prevalent narrow-mindedness of so many people. It was a joke; and although I hate winter, it sounded good when the temp was in the mid-90's.

I don't mind hearing about Winter or Christmas music in July. I really don't want to hear about it in October.

Peter.....they've all seen Dark Knight about 6 times by now (oops, make that seven).....they need something else to obsess over

Excuse me but I don't comprehend why posing a topic and discussing it points to obsession. No offense because I see that you'll argue at the drop of a hat but you haven't been a wknd at 92 in how many years but still use it as your handle here? And we're obsessing? That isn't a slam against you but you're part of this forum so don't set yourself apart and put others down as if you're not. You didn't have anything to contribute so lay off the posters who did. It wasn't a slam topic to begin with.

za-rex, turn your sarcasm detector on....I'm poking fun at the whole thing. I'm quite familiar that I am part of the forum and truth be told, I find the subject of X-mas music in July silly. Who or who does not play it is worthless at this point as who knows what the status of Pro, Lite, Coast, the B, HJJ, etc will be tomorrow, let alone in 4 months....

I don't usually get involved in arguments but those are pretty strong words from you Ted, considering I go out of my way to avoid controversy and digs at other posters unlike the majority of the hens on here. I'm out of here permanently. There isn't enough important going on to talk about & not enough important people to talk about it with. I don't tolerate ignorance online any more than I tolerate it in person.

Runrigger that'd be the day I'd leave the board just because of some of the riff-raff here that like to mouth off. Some of the people here have reputations in radio that precede this board. I won't go any further than that on a public forum but I'll PM you in case you're not aware of some of the characters we're dealing with here and their agendas.

My two fave stations were always WROR and WODS. In the past, when WODS flipped to all Christmas, I would abandon them for those 6-8 weeks and stick strictly with WROR and then sprinkle ODS back in intermittently once they flipped back to normal programming.

This past year, when both ROR and ODS both flipped, I had to find something new. I live near Worcester so I sampled Oldies 98-9, The Pike, Mike-FM, WBOS (before and just after their little flip), Mix 98.5, and WXLO.

Now, 8 months later, the radio at home sits at 100FM The Pike with the occasional change to ODS Sunday nights for Lost 45s. The car radio usually sits at Mike-FM.

WODS did me no favors by dumping Jimmy Del Ponte from the morning show. I find Dale Dorman very boring.
WROR did me no favors with the actual Christmas flip and also now with the godawful Employee of the Day takeover, moving Julie Devereaux to nights and dropping Kim Collins.
