Twas The Day After Xmas

...and all thru the Hut, not a creature was stirring...including that lazy ass Nurse Jeff!

We noticed no one posted the December 6+ numbers, which included the first week or so of Ho-Ho-Ho Holiday Music on KEZ. No surprise here, their share jumped up 50% to keep them way on top. Darned few surprises...Mother Hubbard has got to be happy with all their stations, including Lumberyard 14~Forty which repeated its 0.6 share.

Anyone catch KTAR's "Christmas Carol"? Was that a repeat or what? A lot of former KTAR staff members held down key positions. The Nurse and I always wondered why they never axed us to perform...guess Mac 'n Gaydos more than satisfy their requirement for a couple of goofballs.

Can't help but think the Old Gringo got a drone for Navidad...something in the air has been buzzing over the Buckeye Media Hut the past couple of days. Can't figure out why he's interested in our proprietary intelligence...amounts to nothing more than smoke & mirrors!

So a big tip of the fez to our many followers across the fruited plains. The Nurse and I wish you the very best in 20~Sixteen!

And a happy ho ho ho to you, Doc.

Been driving around town listening to KOOL a lot on this visit, coming to grips with the fact that I am now in the upper demo as they play the songs I grew up with as opposed to the ones someone else grew up with. But when did they start running 12 inch Saturday Night? I also heard them play Wonderful Christmastime, so some things remain constant...

KOOL could have been KZZP circa 2016 (and it was for a while), though I gotta wonder if anyone's monitoring their web site for overuse of the "Demand It" button. Ergo:

"Killer Queen" - Queen
Bring Queen Latifah to Phoenix metro area - [Demand] it!

What's Queen Latifah have to do with Queen?

"Night Fever" - Bee Gee's
Bring Bee Gees to Phoenix metro area - [Demand] it!

Uh, that might be a little difficult.

"Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" - Michael Jackson
Bring Michael Jackson to Phoenix metro area - [Demand] it

Who's vetting their page? Anyone?

And who is vetting their Wikipedia entry?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KOOL-FM

It says: "KOOL-FM began programming oldies music in 1971, the first radio station ever to carry the format, as a format brought to the station by Jerry Osborne, who used the air name Dan Coffey"

That was nearly 4 years after Barry Richards did oldies on WMOD in Washington, DC and three years after Jack Alix did "million dollar music" on suburban WEEL in the same market.

Nah, my drone was sucked into a wood chipper while trying to take pictures of the Lumberyard under the full moon of Christmas Eve. Musta' been interference from the mighty 52 watts of night pow-pow-power.

Keyword: sucked.

Ah, Wikipedia. Proof that letting just anyone edit an encyclopedia results in an inaccurate reference text. I am reminded of when I had to edit the listing for the infamous defunct KKOG-TV in Ventura, California (for which I am the ultimate authority, having somehow managed to work there for the entire nine months it was on the air) because some idiot thought it was a good idea to add a section on "newscast titles the station would have used if it hadn't gone dark" ... I kid you not, this yahoo had a whole list, and the "years" those titles would have been used.

Barry Richards...the Boss with the Hot Sauce! Here's one of Nurse Jeff's favorites featuring, Barry, Little Tina, and Cliff with his size 18 shoes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaNX_eFDPbo Believe it or not, that blast from the past had three different titles...and the most popular was the one without lyrics.

Three different -- what? I have either seen "Total Recall" (the Arnold one) too many times or need some sleep. Titles, not -- er, the other word. D'oh-!

That would be triclops, wouldn't it? YIKES!

Good point(s)...that evil spell check must have looked into my mammary, er memory, and fixated on something round and firm. Not sure how these things happen, but we'll keep you abreast of Media Hut research. Damn Nurse Jeff and his spiked egg nog!
