TWC DVR time "wrong"? (somewhat OT)

This isn't really about radio, but I'd wager many of you might know the answer to this...

Both in Brighton and now in Canandaigua, on two different styles of Time Warner Cable DVR's, the clock is not set right and I can't figure out how to change it. I deem the clock being "off" by about one minute as determined by how many, many, MANY of our automatically recorded shows are cut off with about one minute remaining in the actual show.

Oddly, many of these shows do NOT have an extra minute at the beginning, although there is SOME extra programming there, but not quite as much. I suppose it's a by-product of channels cramming as much advertising as possible in there, which takes away from the beginning and end credits, thus removing a handy "buffer" for such problems.

Anyways, I would be very happy if there were some way I could reset the clock to be about thirty seconds slower, so it'd both start and stop recording later. I could live with losing that time at the beginning moreso than at the end; especially true with The Simpsons and South Park.

Any ideas? Is the only answer to complain to TWC directly? Thanks in advance for any advice y'all can provide!

P.S. I know I can technically set all my recordings to end one minute later...this isn't a good solution, though, because it frequently means more than two recordings will overlap at the same time, and one of them will get canceled. Delaying all my recordings' start time by one minute in the settings doesn't seem to solve that particular issue; I was still getting canceled recordings.

This is the only way I've found to record the entire show on DVR. But it's frustrating isn't it? I've also discovered that even when I add a few minutes to shows I want to record, the following week, or day, the timer will revert back to 1 hour, versus 1 hour and 2 minutes; thus I lose the ending of many shows I wish to watch.
The cause for this debacle can be blamed on jamming in as many commercials as possible into an hour-long show.Makes you want to give up cable TV doesn't it?

I think it's actually up to TWC (or the local cable provider) to set the actual run times of the programs in the program guide. If the show runs 1:02 and the guide has it at only 1:00, then the DVR will record one hour only.

It's the same with the "NEW" notification on programs. If the cable or show provider doesn't send notification that the show is "NEW", then the guide will not list it as such and the DVR schedule will not record the program.

Solution? Hell if I know..... contact TWC and see if they can get their s**t together?

My take on this is that the cable networks are trying to discourage people from taping programs because they know most, if not all viewers, just skip past the commerrials. Therefore
the cable operators and networks make sure their programs go over the scheduled time allowed just to discourage people from taping programs.

If you are referring to my post, I don't see a conspiracy; just an effort by cable companies and networks to sell more ad time.
I mean most network shows have all but eliminated the credits at the end of the show, along with the theme music. You may have also noticed pop-up ads for other shows when watching something else.
It's all about money! A TV sales executive told me that he'd rather see people watching a show live than have it DVR or TiVo because of his concern that the spots he's sold will be fast-forward by the viewer.

I don't get cable but I have converted to over the air digital which comes with a built in program guide. I've noticed that programs are now listed as starting at 7:59 pm in some cases and ending at 9:01. My theory is that stations figure you won't change channels if you've already missed 2 minutes of a program on another station.
