new voice guy, new imaging. . .
"The Valley's BEST rock" Q-106
heard gold titles from Bush and Collective Soul around lunch time. . .
also a "We rock Walpole" liner.
I am listening online...
I have my mixed feelings. Hope to get down south to ski and listen on my walkmen.
Hope they play motley Crue... and not just, AOR or AA type of music I'll listen if its stuff not played to death anymore

The other day, when I was cruising thru the area, a jock or VT's jock at Q106 was backselling a break and was saying stuff like, "From 1976 That was Boston and "Smoking". The jock, at least in my opinion, I bet doesn't know the music and forgetting that us poor slobs in the studio audience know the music all too well !! Classic rock listeners know their stuff, and the timeless, ageless format needs no yearly references.. Yah think ??
Sounds like Q106 is using the same imaging voice that's being used in Rutland at 101 The Fox.. Makes sense... "The Valley's Best Rock" positioner is rather unimaginative.. Kixx sort owns that positioner type statement going back almost 20 years with "The Valley's Best Country".. There were much better positioning statements in place when Q106 went to a mainstream rock format once or twice before. My question is, why no mention of the I-Dude in any imaging ? Even if the AOR format will tilt a bit younger as the Imus crowd skews older, it's still the flagship morning show..
This move doesn't make a lot of sense with them bringing Imus back. Seriously, he is way less compatible with an "all things that rock" approach than Free Beer & Hot Wings were. Imus truly polarizes the audience with the Q's updated approach. Maybe that's why he's not mentioned in the imaging - ya think that maybe they might move him to another brand once the WEEI dust settles (in)? Listening to the new format I think that a Mancow (or someone like him) would be a far better fit in mornings.
Well, Jo Jo, for the audience they may be trying to rope in, those kids might not know from how long ago... on the other hand, wouldn't that be a put-off anyway?
