Twister coverage: AM750 WSB and NOW on 95.5, 98.5, and 97.1 ....

OMG it's a twister and Cox is there! I heard WSB storm coverage simulcast LIVE last night on at least four great frequencies. Was it on 104.1 too?

I don't know why they just don't simulcast Channel 2's coverage..... it was truly the best.

TWC's coverage last night was horrid...Channel 2 was great.

TWC is becoming like MTV...Music Television doesn't play music anymore and The Weather Channel doesn't broadcast wx.

While WSB was simulcasting on most of the Cox cluster last night, I pulled up WGST's stream. They were in regular programming, sounded like Michael Savage was on (from the bumper music I'm guessing - didn't wait to hear for sure).

why not nightly from 6-6:30?

is there still an action news radio network?
No, the Action News Radio Network does not exist anymore. At least, they don't simulcast the 6:00 P.M. newscast anymore. News/Talk WDUN in Gainesville, they used to be one of the affiliates. Now, they simulcast FOX5 News at 6:00 P.M. WLJA up in Elijay, their programming page still says they simulcast the 12 Noon newscast of Channel 2 Action News. I haven't listened to WLJA in a while. They probably don't simulcast Channel 2 Action News at Noon anymore. They definitely don't simulcast the 6PM newscast anymore. I'm not sure if WLJA simulcasts FOX5 News at 6:00 P.M. They probably do. Then again, they probably don't. When did this change over from Channel 2 to FOX5 happen for the radio affiliates? Probably back around the time when the TV stations were shutting down their Standard Definition signals in favor of the HD signals because of the mandatory upgrade from SD to HD. If anyone wants to comment, you're welcome to do so below. That is all. Thank you.

TWC is like a 3 ring circus, they move so fast and talk so fast you feel worn out watching for 5 minutes. They have more commercials than any other network. I use to be proud that they called Atlanta home, but they have become painful to watch especially after NBC bought them. I despise Al Roker.

When I was working in Gainesville about 8 years ago WDUN was still simuling the Channel 2 6PM news.

My guess is as Cox has been competing harder with WDUN/Jacobs (most notably putting WXKT smack dab in WDUN's territory, buying WNGC and yanking UGA sports from WDUN, and poaching Zoller), there has been a lot of love lost between Cox and Jacobs, which News Corp. was probably happy to replace.

TWC used to have a reasonable spot load. Now it's sky-high. And you don't get the "local on the 8s" anymore, unless you have a 60" screen and can see the thumbnail they stick in the corner, and even then they don't tell you as much as they used to.

I should note Channel 2 was not running any commercials during their weather break-ins...not until they went back to ABC.

Hi everyone. I just listened to WLJA to see if they were simulcasting either the Channel 2 or FOX5 6PM newscasts. It turns out WLJA is simulcasting FOX5 News at 6PM. That is all.

Part of the problem is that when Tornadoes break out, it is hard for TWC to cover it as the storms tend to move quickly through an area. They do better to show that a region will get impacted by potential storrms, but they are not so great at covering specific Thunderstorms/Tornadoes. They also try to cover the aftermanth to get the human story for impact and to help bring a national perspective to those affected.

I really think their bread and butter is snow storms and Hurricanes. Since those events cover a larger area, athey are able to deliver a better product.

TWC did get last years "super outbreak" correct. Of course like a hurricane or blizzard it was big and ugly. IIRC Jeff Morrow and crew's Alabama's coverage was scary just to watch on TV.
